Japan · 2007
This page covers Japan's four DP-era releases of 2007 — 382 cards: 123 on 2 March, 119 on 5 July, and 70 + 70 on 26 October. A fifth Japanese product is not itemised here: World Champions Pack, 108 cards released on 5 July, the Japanese printing of the English EX Power Keepers set, sold in fifteen-card packs to pre-orders only. It is in the timeline below and the reason it is not listed card by card is under About this data. The English market released four sets in 2007, 494 cards.
Four sets, 382 cards, and the year LV.X stopped being a novelty
2006 ended by changing the card frame; 2007 is the year the new frame filled up. Every Japanese set this year carries three Pokémon LV.X — Magmortar, Electivire and Lucario in March; Darkrai, Dialga and Palkia in July; Cresselia, Honchkrow and Garchomp in October; Leafeon, Glaceon and Gardevoir a fortnight later. Twelve for the year. And an LV.X is not a Pokémon-ex with a new name: you do not evolve into it. It is stacked on the copy already in play, it keeps that card's attacks as well as its own, and it gives up two Prizes when it is Knocked Out. That one rule is what the whole year is built around.
The sets get smaller and more deliberate. March's Secret of the Lakes is 123 cards and invents Pokémon that hold items — a Berry on a Pokémon works for as long as it stays in play, the way a Poké-Body does. July's Shining Darkness is 119 and timed to the tenth movie a week before it opened, which is why Darkrai's first card is in a main set and not a promo. October breaks the pattern entirely: Moonlit Pursuit and Dawn Dash, 70 cards each, on the same day, two halves of one block — and that pair is exactly what English would split into Great Encounters and Majestic Dawn in 2008.
Each set opens with what it was and when it landed, then every card in set order. The number on the card is not 1 of 123. Japanese cards of this era print a block-wide code — DPBP#013 — and that is what the number line shows. The LV.X cards, the Trainer cards and the basic Energy print no code at all; those are shown as — unnumbered because there is nothing on the card to read. LV.X is marked as its own rarity, not folded into ordinary holofoil rares: a card you stack on another card is not the same thing to own as a card you pull.
About the pictures and the numbers. Every card face here is a Japanese scan. Nothing on this page is borrowed artwork: no card is illustrated with its English printing. The stats are a different matter — no Japanese card database covers the DP era at all, so HP, type, stage, retreat cost, attacks, ability and illustrator are read off the English printing of the same card, and every one of the 382 cards was paired to its English twin individually. How that pairing was done, and which cards could not be paired, is under About this data.

EX Power Keepers goes on sale in English, 108 cards — the sixteenth and last EX-era set. Eight Pokémon-ex (Absol, Claydol, Flygon, Metagross, Salamence, Shiftry, Skarmory, Walrein), the old yellow frame, and no LV.X anywhere. Japan will not get these cards until July, under a different name.
Secret of the Lakes (湖の秘密), 123 cards — 111 Pokémon, nine Trainer and three Special Energy; 41 commons, 39 uncommons, 21 rares, 19 holofoil rares and three LV.X. Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf are the set's namesake, Pokémon holding items appear for the first time, and two new Fossils — Skull Fossil and Armor Fossil — arrive under the rule that a Fossil is played as a Trainer.
Diamond & Pearl reaches English, 130 cards — Japan's 30 November 2006 pair, 117 and 119 cards, merged into one set. The new frame, the new rulebook and the rarity ladder cross the ocean five and a half months late, and the English DP era starts here.
Shining Darkness (ひかる闇), 119 cards — 110 Pokémon, seven Trainer and two Special Energy; 43 commons, 34 uncommons, 22 rares, 17 holofoil rares, three LV.X. Darkrai gets its first card, and the three LV.X are the three leads of the film opening nine days later: Darkrai, Dialga, Palkia. Metal appears exactly once, the thinnest any type gets all year.
World Champions Pack, 108 cards, on the same day. This is the Japanese printing of February's EX Power Keepers, sold in fifteen-card packs to pre-orders taken between 15 June and 1 July. It exists so that Japanese players have the cards before the World Championship, and it is the last PCG-era set — released seven months into the DP era. It is not itemised on this page, and the reason is under About this data.
Dialga vs Palkia vs Darkrai opens in Japanese cinemas, the tenth Pokémon film. Shining Darkness went on sale nine days earlier; the set's identity is the film's, and Darkrai — the Pokémon the film is named for — had never been printed before.
Mysterious Treasures, 123 cards plus one secret, arrives in English. It is Japan's March set card for card, with Time-Space Distortion added as the secret: the first Trainer card in this game printed with a holofoil border, and previously only a Japanese Battle Road promo.
Moonlit Pursuit and Dawn Dash (月光の追跡 / 夜明けの疾走), 70 cards each, the same day. One block sold as two half-sets: Leafeon and Glaceon make their card debut, Wailord arrives at 200 HP — no card printed before it comes close — and each half carries three LV.X.
Secret Wonders, 132 cards, closes the English year. It is Japan's July set plus thirteen cards Japan never had in it — and minus Darkrai: neither Darkrai nor any of the three film LV.X reaches this set in English.

The second DP set. 123 cards, eleven to a pack, twenty packs a box. Built around the three lake guardians — Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf — and the set that introduced Pokémon holding items: a Berry attached to a Pokémon works for as long as it stays in play, the same way a Poké-Body does. Two new Fossils arrive with Cranidos and Shieldon, and there are three LV.X cards: Magmortar, Electivire and Lucario. The common / uncommon / holo split was never published, so it is not stated here. Price, pack size and box count agree across period listings, but the original official announcement could not be located.
2 March 2007. 123 cards — 111 Pokémon, nine Trainer and three Special Energy — 41 commons, 39 uncommons, 21 rares, 19 holofoil rares and three LV.X. Psychic and Water tie at twenty each, Colourless 18, Grass 17, Fighting 10, Fire 9, Lightning 7, Metal 7, Darkness 3. Twenty-one artists worked on it and Ken Sugimori drew nineteen of the 123.
The set that invented held items. A Berry attached to a Pokémon works for as long as it stays in play — no flip, no discard, the same shape as a Poké-Body — and it is the first time the video games' held-item idea reached the card game. The three lake guardians give the set its name: Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf, one Psychic card each. Two new Fossils, Skull Fossil and Armor Fossil, are played as Trainers and become Basic Pokémon on the Bench. Almost half the set is a reprint of a Johto or Kanto line — Meganium, Feraligatr, Typhlosion, Tyranitar, Blissey, Gyarados — retuned for the new block rather than the Gen IV roster on the box.
17 cards · listed in original order.

Parasect, 90 HP, Grass, Stage 1, uncommon, retreat 2 — Wild Spores for one Grass is 20, but if Parasect evolved from Paras this turn it is 40 and leaves the Defending Pokémon both Asleep and Poisoned. Extend Fungus is 60 at two Grass and a Colourless and heals two damage counters off Parasect. Masakazu Fukuda.

Exeggcute, 60 HP, Grass, Basic, common, retreat 1 — one attack, Direct-hit Bomb, for a single Grass: flip a coin for each Energy on Exeggcute and put 10 on a chosen Pokémon of the opponent's for every heads. Nothing lands on the Active unless you aim there. Ken Sugimori.

Exeggutor, 90 HP, Grass, Stage 1, rare, retreat 2 — String Bomb costs one Colourless and flips a coin for every basic Energy on Exeggutor and on the Defending Pokémon, 30 per heads. Chikorita, 50 HP, Grass, Basic, common, retreat 1 — Sleep Scent puts the defender to Sleep on heads and costs nothing, Jump On is 10 for one Grass, 20 on heads. No setup, no drawback, the textbook first stage. Kagemaru Himeno.

Spinarak, 50 HP, Grass, Basic, common, retreat 1 — Impound for a Colourless stops the defender retreating at all, Double Scratch is 20 per heads on two coins at a Grass and a Colourless. A common that already does the locking the evolved form is built around. Kagemaru Himeno.

Ability Sticky
Ariados, 80 HP, Grass, Stage 1, rare, retreat 1 — the Poké-Body Sticky makes every Pokémon in play except Ariados cost one more Colourless to retreat, both sides alike. Offensive Needle is 20 at a Grass and a Colourless, Poisoned on heads, Paralyzed on tails. A board-wide tax on a Stage 1. Midori Harada.

Celebi, 60 HP, Grass, Basic, holofoil rare, retreat 1 — Sprouting costs no Energy and attaches a Grass Energy straight out of the deck. Leaf Tornado is 30 at two Grass and then lets you move any number of basic Grass Energy around your side. Acceleration and a shuffler on a 60 HP Basic. Kagemaru Himeno.

Surskit, 50 HP, Grass, Basic, common, retreat 1 — one attack, Sleep Inducer for one Grass, which drags a Benched Pokémon up and puts it to Sleep. No damage at all; the card exists to buy a turn. Ken Sugimori.

Masquerain, 70 HP, Grass, Stage 1, uncommon, free retreat — Centrifugal Force at two Colourless does 20 per Colourless in the defending Pokémon's retreat cost, counted after every effect, so it scales off Sticky and other retreat taxes. Swirling Ripple is 30 at two Grass, 60 and Confused if the opponent has any Water Pokémon in play. Midori Harada.

Tropius, 80 HP, Grass, Basic, uncommon, retreat 1 — Bonus Leaf for one Grass removes three damage counters from each of your Benched Pokémon that has Grass Energy attached, Whirlwind is 30 at a Grass and a Colourless and makes the opponent switch their Active out. A Basic that works as a bench-wide healer. Kazuyuki Kano.

Kricketot, 60 HP, Grass, Basic, common, retreat 2 — Call for Family for one Colourless fetches any Basic Pokémon onto the Bench, Sling is 10 for one Grass. The search is what makes Kricketune's Concerto worth counting. Atsuko Nishida.

Kricketune, 80 HP, Grass, Stage 1, rare, retreat 2 — Sore Performance is 20 at two Colourless and puts the defender to Sleep, Concerto is 40 at two Grass plus 10 for every Kricketot and every Kricketune you have in play. A Stage 1 whose damage grows with your own board. Mitsuhiro Arita.

Snover, 60 HP, Grass, Basic, common, retreat 2 — Curiosity costs nothing and shows you the opponent's hand, Snowball Fight is 30 at a Water and a Colourless but does 10 to Snover on tails. A Grass-typed card whose attack takes Water Energy. Ken Sugimori.

Ability Glacier Snow
Abomasnow, 100 HP, Grass, Stage 1, rare, retreat 3 — the Poké-Body Glacier Snow puts the Attacking Pokémon to Sleep whenever Abomasnow is damaged by an attack, even if that Knocks it Out. Heavy Blizzard is 60 at a Water and two Colourless, and on heads drops a damage counter on every Benched Pokémon the opponent has. Kazuyuki Kano.
9 cards · listed in original order.

Vulpix, 60 HP, Fire, Basic, common, retreat 1 — one attack only: Fire Soul at two Fire is 20 and adds 10 onto one of the opponent's Benched Pokémon, Weakness and Resistance not applied there. Two Fire for 20 is a poor rate and the bench damage is the entire reason to run it. Kagemaru Himeno.

Ability Color Shift
Ninetales, 80 HP, Fire, Stage 1, rare, retreat 1 — the Poké-Power Color Shift rewrites Ninetales' own type to match any one of the opponent's Pokémon for the turn, which switches its Weakness off on demand. Fire Blast is 60 at two Fire for a discarded Fire Energy. Kouki Saitou.

Ability Baby Evolution
Magby, 40 HP, Fire, Basic, uncommon, retreat 1 — Scorch costs nothing and burns the Defending Pokémon on heads, and the Poké-Power Baby Evolution drops a Magmar from your hand onto Magby, clearing the damage. A free status attack that later becomes a 70 HP Magmar without spending a turn. Midori Harada.

Magmar, 70 HP, Fire, Basic, common, retreat 2 — Flare is 20 for one Fire, Flamethrower is 50 at two Fire and a Colourless for any Energy off Magmar. A Basic in the common slot carrying a 50-damage attack is why the Magby line was worth printing at all. Mitsuhiro Arita.

Magmortar, 100 HP, Fire, Stage 1, rare, retreat 3 — Smoke Bomb is 30 at a Fire and a Colourless and makes the defender flip to attack next turn. Flame Drum is 80 at two Fire and a Colourless, but without a Magby anywhere underneath you must discard two Energy cards from your hand or the attack does nothing. The payoff card of the line. Hiroaki Ito.

Cyndaquil, 60 HP, Fire, Basic, common, retreat 1 — Tackle is 10 and costs nothing, Live Coal is 20 at a Fire and a Colourless. Two attacks, both honest, on a 60 HP Basic. Masakazu Fukuda.

Quilava, 80 HP, Fire, Stage 1, uncommon, retreat 1 — one attack, Fireworks at a Fire and a Colourless is 40, and a tails costs a Fire Energy off Quilava. Forty for two on a middle stage, with the discard as the only brake. Atsuko Nishida.

Ability Firestarter
Typhlosion, 110 HP, Fire, Stage 2, holofoil rare, retreat 2 — the Poké-Power Firestarter attaches a Fire Energy out of the discard pile to one of your Benched Pokémon every turn, which is the engine the whole Fire block runs on. Evaporating Heat is 60 at two Fire and a Colourless and strips a Water Energy off the defender. Kazuyuki Kano.

Ability Torrid Wave
Magmortar LV.X, 130 HP, Fire, Level-Up, holofoil rare, retreat 3 — played from your hand onto a Magmortar, no Energy needed. The Poké-Power Torrid Wave Burns the Defending Pokémon and upgrades the between-turns damage to 3 counters instead of 2. Flame Bluster at four Fire throws off two Fire Energy and puts 100 on any one of the opponent's Pokémon, and Magmortar cannot use it next turn. Shizurow.
20 cards · listed in original order.

Seel, 60 HP, Water, Basic, common, retreat 2 — one attack, Freezing Headbutt at a Water and a Colourless is 10 with a paralysis flip. The number is small; the paralysis is the card. Ken Sugimori.

Ability Cold Fat
Dewgong, 90 HP, Water, Stage 1, uncommon, retreat 2 — Collapse is 60 at two Water and a Colourless and puts Dewgong to Sleep, and the Poké-Body Cold Fat then reduces all damage to it by 40 for as long as it stays Asleep. The drawback is the defence: 90 HP sitting behind a 40-point shield. Masakazu Fukuda.

Magikarp, 30 HP, Water, Basic, common, retreat 1 — Flail costs one Colourless and does 10 per damage counter on Magikarp, Dragon Rage is 60 at two Water and does nothing at all if either of two coins is tails. 30 HP with a 60-damage attack: the joke and the reason Gyarados costs four Energy. Yusuke Ohmura.

Ability Dragon DNA
Gyarados, 120 HP, Water, Stage 1, rare, retreat 3 — the Poké-Body Dragon DNA lets Gyarados use any attack from its Basic Pokémon and adds 30 to it against the Active, so the Magikarp underneath turns Dragon Rage into 90. Enrage is 80 at two Water and two Colourless, forces a blind discard for every heads on a flip-until-tails, and Confuses Gyarados if the first coin is tails. Mitsuhiro Arita.

Totodile, 50 HP, Water, Basic, common, retreat 1 — Bite is 10 for free, Shining Fang is 10 for one Water, 20 if the Defending Pokémon already carries damage counters. Cheap, and it rewards having hit first. Kouki Saitou.

Ability Evolutionary Vitality
Croconaw, 80 HP, Water, Stage 1, uncommon, retreat 2 — the Poké-Power Evolutionary Vitality, on the turn Croconaw evolves, looks at the top five cards and takes every Energy card found there. Hover Over is 30 at a Water and a Colourless and stops the defender retreating. Mitsuhiro Arita.

Feraligatr, 130 HP, Water, Stage 2, holofoil rare, retreat 2 — Energy Cyclone at two Water does 20 for every Energy card you show from your hand, then puts them back on top of the deck. Breaking Tail is 60 at a Water and two Colourless plus a blind discard from the opponent's hand. A Stage 2 that turns hand size into damage. Kazuyuki Kano.

Remoraid, 60 HP, Water, Basic, common, retreat 1 — Sharpshooting for one Water puts 10 anywhere the opponent is weakest, Weakness and Resistance ignored on the bench; Numbing Water is 20 at two Water with a paralysis flip. Sumiyoshi Kizuki.

Octillery, 80 HP, Water, Stage 1, uncommon, retreat 1 — Crash Bomber at two Colourless is 30, or 60 against a defender carrying Special Energy, and then discards one of those Special Energy. Aqua Liner at two Water puts 40 on any Benched Pokémon. A Stage 1 that punishes the Special Energy cards of the block. Kagemaru Himeno.

Ability Jumbo Fin
Mantine, 80 HP, Water, Basic, rare, retreat 1 — the Poké-Body Jumbo Fin cuts two Colourless off the retreat cost of every Water Pokémon you have, provided a Mantyke is anywhere underneath. Giant Wave is 50 at two Water and cannot be used two turns running. Masakazu Fukuda.

Barboach, 50 HP, Water, Basic, common, retreat 1 — one attack, Mud Spit for one Fighting, which on heads does 10 to every one of the opponent's Pokémon. Weakness and Resistance are not applied on the bench, and nothing lands on the Active. Ken Sugimori.

Whiscash, 90 HP, Water, Stage 1, rare, retreat 3 — Fury at a Water and two Colourless does 20 per damage counter on Whiscash, so the card wants to be hit. Magnitude at a Fighting and three Colourless is 60 and puts 20 on every Benched Pokémon, yours included. Daisuke Ito.

Snorunt, 50 HP, Water, Basic, common, retreat 1 — Collect for one Colourless draws a card, Snowball is 20 for one Water and does nothing at all on tails. Two cheap attacks, one of them a coin flip. Kagemaru Himeno.

Glalie, 90 HP, Water, Stage 1, rare, retreat 2 — the Poké-Body Craggy Face cuts 20 off every attack from an opponent's Stage 2 Pokémon while Glalie is Active. Spheal, 50 HP, Water, Basic, common, retreat 2 — Rollout is 10 for one Colourless, Hustle for one Water flips: on heads, Rollout's base damage becomes 40 on your next turn. A two-turn setup on a 50 HP Basic. Sumiyoshi Kizuki.

Sealeo, 80 HP, Water, Stage 1, uncommon, retreat 2 — one attack, Ice Rider at two Water, 30 onto any one of the opponent's Pokémon and nothing on the Active unless you aim there. No coin flip attached. Kouki Saitou.

Ability Freeze-up
Walrein, 130 HP, Water, Stage 2, rare, retreat 3 — the Poké-Power Freeze-up, on the turn Walrein evolves, flips two coins and on both heads discards the Defending Pokémon and everything attached to it, which is not a Knock Out and so gives up no Prize. Ice Bind is 70 at two Water and a Colourless and Paralyzes unless the opponent throws a card away. Midori Harada.

Finneon, 50 HP, Water, Basic, common, retreat 1 — Elegant Swim for one Water does no damage but on heads blocks every effect of an attack, damage included, next turn. Tackle is 20 at two Colourless. Ken Sugimori.

Ability Lure Ring
Lumineon, 80 HP, Water, Stage 1, holofoil rare, retreat 1 — the Poké-Power Lure Ring drags an opponent's Benched Pokémon with 100 HP or more into the Active spot. Reverse Stream at two Colourless is 30 plus 10 for each Water Energy on Lumineon, and then returns all that Water to your hand. Mitsuhiro Arita.

Buizel, 60 HP, Water, Basic, common, retreat 1 — printed without a DPBP number, so it sits at the end of the set list rather than in the numbered run. One attack, Quick Attack at two Colourless: 10, or 40 on heads. A common with a 40-damage ceiling. Kenkichi Toyama.
7 cards · listed in original order.

Ability Baby Evolution
Pichu, 40 HP, Lightning, Basic, uncommon, retreat 1 — the Poké-Power Baby Evolution puts a Pikachu straight from your hand onto Pichu, which counts as evolving it and clears every damage counter. Chupi is 20 for no Energy at all, nothing on tails. A 40 HP baby that becomes a 60 HP Pikachu without a turn's wait is the cheapest opening in the set. Yuka Morii.

Ability Electro Recycle
Pikachu, 60 HP, Lightning, Basic, common, retreat 1 — BikaBika is 20 at a Lightning and a Colourless, 30 on heads. The Poké-Power Electro Recycle picks a Lightning Energy out of the discard pile whenever a Pichu is anywhere underneath, so the line keeps paying for itself. Sumiyoshi Kizuki draws the Pichu and the Pikachu both.

Raichu, 90 HP, Lightning, Stage 1, holofoil rare, retreat 1 — Electromagnetic Induction costs nothing and drops up to two Lightning Energy from the deck onto one of your Pokémon. Explosive Thunder is 30 times the number of basic Lightning Energy you throw off Raichu, so the acceleration feeds the attack directly. Daisuke Ito.

Electrike, 60 HP, Lightning, Basic, common, retreat 1 — a single attack, Electromagnetic Jam for one Lightning: 10 damage, and on heads the opponent cannot attach any Energy from hand to their Active Pokémon next turn. Ten damage and a one-turn lock for one Energy. Kouki Saitou.

Manectric, 80 HP, Lightning, Stage 1, rare, free retreat — Lightning Twister costs one Colourless and does 20 per basic Energy on Manectric, Chain Lightning is 70 at three Lightning and adds 20 to every Benched Pokémon that shares the defender's type. Atsuko Nishida.

Shinx, 60 HP, Lightning, Basic, common, retreat 1 — no DPBP number. Plasma for one Lightning is 10, and on heads it pulls a Lightning Energy out of the discard pile onto Shinx, so the card pays its own next attack. Lee HyunJung.

Ability Shocking Tail
Electivire LV.X, 120 HP, Lightning, Level-Up, holofoil rare, retreat 3 — played onto an Electivire. The Poké-Body Shocking Tail puts two damage counters on any Pokémon the opponent attaches an Energy to from hand, for as long as Electivire is Active. Pulse Barrier is 50 at a Lightning and a Colourless, and if it clears any Tool or Stadium cards it shuts off every effect against Electivire next turn. Shizurow.
20 cards · listed in original order.

Nidoran ♀, 50 HP, Psychic, Basic, common, retreat 1 — Call for Family for one Colourless searches out either Nidoran and drops it onto the Bench, Poison Sting is 20 at a Psychic and a Colourless with a poison flip. The search card that makes the Nidoqueen at 032 buildable. Ken Sugimori.

Nidorina, 80 HP, Psychic, Stage 1, uncommon, retreat 1 — Rescue for one Colourless pulls up to two Pokémon out of the discard pile into your hand; Scratch is 30 at a Psychic and a Colourless. Recovery on a middle stage is what lets the family work as a toolbox rather than a straight line. Atsuko Nishida.

Ability Mother Pheromone
Nidoqueen, 120 HP, Psychic, Stage 2, rare, retreat 2 — Give Aid is 90 at two Psychic and a Colourless, but the base damage falls to 50 whenever you have the same number of Benched Pokémon as your opponent or fewer. The Poké-Body Mother Pheromone shaves a Colourless off every attack on your Nidoran ♀, Nidorina, Nidoran ♂, Nidorino and Nidoking. Kagemaru Himeno.

Zubat, 50 HP, Psychic, Basic, common, retreat 1 — Supersonic for one Psychic confuses on heads, Bite is 20 at two Colourless. Cheap, two attacks, and the front of a line that ends in a free-retreat Crobat. Ken Sugimori.

Golbat, 70 HP, Psychic, Stage 1, uncommon, free retreat — Pulse Search for one Psychic is 30 and then shows you the opponent's hand. Free retreat plus hand information on a Stage 1 is a Supporter's worth of effect bundled into an attack. Kazuyuki Kano.

Ability Evolutionary Toxic
Crobat, 100 HP, Psychic, Stage 2, rare, free retreat — Strike and Fade at two Psychic puts 50 on any one of the opponent's Pokémon, ignoring Weakness, Resistance and everything on the Defending one, and shuffles Crobat and everything attached back into the deck on tails. The Poké-Power Evolutionary Toxic poisons the Defending Pokémon as Crobat evolves, and doubles the between-turns damage to 2 counters. Masakazu Fukuda.

Abra, 50 HP, Psychic, Basic, common, retreat 1 — Play Search for one Psychic looks at the top five and takes one, Ultra Evolution at a Psychic and a Colourless finds an Alakazam in the deck and puts it straight onto Abra, counting as evolving. That is not a shortcut: Kadabra was left out of the set entirely, so this attack is the only way up the line. Ken Sugimori.

Ability Power Cancel
Alakazam, 100 HP, Psychic, Stage 2, holofoil rare, retreat 1 — printed as a Stage 2 with no Kadabra beneath it, so it only ever arrives via Abra's Ultra Evolution. The Poké-Power Power Cancel throws away two cards from your hand to switch off an opponent's Poké-Power during their own turn. Psychic Guard is 50 at two Psychic and a Colourless and cuts 30 off the damage from Stage 2 attackers next turn. Kouki Saitou.

Ability Airy Wall
Mr. Mime, 70 HP, Psychic, Basic, rare, retreat 1 — the Poké-Body Airy Wall blocks all damage from any attacker carrying two Energy or fewer, and with a Mime Jr. underneath it blocks the effects as well, not just the damage. Trick Play at a Psychic and a Colourless hides a coin: guess wrong and it is 50, guess right and Mr. Mime does 20 to itself. A 70 HP Basic that most cheap attackers simply cannot touch. Kagemaru Himeno.

Ability EQUIP
Unown E, 50 HP, Psychic, Basic, uncommon, retreat 1 — the Poké-Power EQUIP turns it into a Pokémon Tool on one of your Pokémon for +10 HP. Hidden Power at two Colourless makes every coin the opponent flips next turn come up tails. One of four Unown here, E, I, M and T, each spelling an action. Daisuke Ito.

Ability ITEM
Unown I, 50 HP, Psychic, Basic, rare, retreat 1 — the Poké-Power ITEM only fires with E, I, T and M all on your Bench, and then searches out any Trainer card; one ITEM per turn. Hidden Power for one Colourless rewrites an Energy on the defender as a Special Energy that provides Colourless and nothing else until the end of the opponent's next turn. Daisuke Ito.

Ability MAGNET
Unown M, 50 HP, Psychic, Basic, uncommon, retreat 1 — the Poké-Power MAGNET flips a coin on heads to drag one of the opponent's Benched Pokémon into the Active spot, as long as Unown M is Active itself. Lake Boundary, Stadium, uncommon — while it is in play, Weakness is applied as ×2 instead of +, for every Pokémon on both sides. In a block where most Weaknesses read +20 or +30, that turns a 60-damage attack into 120 against the right target, and it cuts both ways. Ryo Ueda.

Ignore this effect if the Pokémon that Darkness Energy is attached to isn't Darkness. Darkness Energy provides Darkness Energy. (Doesn't count as a basic Energy card.)
Darkness Energy, Special Energy, uncommon — attacks by a Darkness Pokémon holding it do 10 more to the Active Pokémon, before Weakness and Resistance, and the card provides Darkness Energy. On anything that is not Darkness the bonus is simply ignored. Takumi Akabane.

One of the two DP4 half-sets. 70 cards, eleven to a pack, twenty packs a box. Dawn Dash shipped the same day, and the two together are what the English side later split into Great Encounters and Majestic Dawn in 2008. The LV.X cards here are Cresselia, Honchkrow and Garchomp. The common / uncommon / holo split was never published, so it is not stated here. Price, pack size and box count agree across period listings, but the original official announcement could not be located.
26 October 2007. 70 cards — 60 Pokémon, eight Trainer and two Special Energy — one half of a two-set release. 23 commons, 20 uncommons, 16 rares, eight holofoil rares and three LV.X. Colourless 14, Water 13, Psychic 12, Grass 7, Fire 4, Fighting 3, Metal 2, Lightning 2, Darkness 2. Nineteen artists.
Wailord at 200 HP is the largest number in this almanac so far — nothing printed between 1996 and this card comes within 40 HP of it. The three LV.X are Cresselia, Honchkrow and Garchomp, and Garchomp LV.X is itself 140 HP. The set leans on Water and Psychic because its backbone is the Sinnoh legendary pair and the Eevee lines; the fossil line — Omanyte, Omastar, Kabuto — is here too, drawn from the Helix Fossil. Sold on the same day as Dawn Dash, and English would later take this half as the core of Great Encounters in February 2008.

Scyther, 70 HP, Grass, Basic, common, retreat 1 — Slash is 10 for one Colourless; Fury Cutter costs a Grass and a Colourless and starts at 10, adding 10 with one heads, 20 with two and 40 with all three coins, so it lands for 20, 30 or 50 in total. Also released this year: English edition.
Great Encounters, 106 cards — English's cut of Moonlit Pursuit plus what it took from Dawn Dash. The first of the two October half-sets finally leaves Japan.
Cry from the Mysterious and Temple of Anger (秘境の叫び / 怒りの神殿), 65 cards each. Japan goes back to paired releases, and English will combine both into Legends Awakened in August.
Majestic Dawn, 100 cards — Dawn Dash's half. By now English is building sets out of two Japanese releases at a time, and the one-to-one correspondence this almanac has been tracking since 2003 is gone for good.
What 2007 leaves behind is 382 Japanese cards, 12 Pokémon LV.X, and a release pattern that never comes back: after October the DP block never again ships a main expansion as a 70-card half on the same day as its twin. Two of the year's four sets are still in the old rhythm of one box, one set; the last two are the beginning of the end of that.
Release dates and product identities are connected to the Japanese edition release register by set code. Sources are printed per product so a reader can check the claim without trusting this page alone. Unmatched products say so instead of borrowing another edition’s citation.
dp2 verified_secondarydp3 verified_secondarydp4m verified_secondarydp4d verified_secondaryAll 382 cards are listed, and none of them is reconstructed from a list of names. The counts match the published sets exactly — 123 / 119 / 70 / 70 — and they were cross-checked a second way: the block codes printed on the cards were compared with an independent Japanese card list for Secret of the Lakes, and the same 105 codes come back, with no gaps on either side.
The number on the card is a code, not a position. DP-era Japanese cards print DPBP#013 in the bottom corner rather than 13/123, and the codes run across the whole block — a seventy-card set spans codes from 013 to 527. That is what the number line on each card shows, unchanged. LV.X, Trainer and basic Energy cards print no code at all, and those are shown as — unnumbered. Nothing on this page is renumbered, and no card is given a position it does not carry.
Every stat on this page comes from the English printing of the same card, because there is no Japanese source to read. TCGdex, which carries the Japanese record for every set from 1999 to 2006, has no DP-era Japanese data at all — its Japanese list jumps from PCG10 straight to the 2009 LEGEND sets. So the card list, the rarity and the scan come from a card database that holds the Japanese printings, and HP, type, stage, retreat cost, attacks, ability and illustrator come from the English twin. Pairing was done card by card: 359 matched on a unique name, 14 separated from same-name siblings by comparing the artwork's fingerprint, 0 recovered from a later English set because their own set did not carry them.
9 cards have no English printing with the same artwork at all, so they show only what is printed on the card face — number, name, rarity and scan — with the stat line empty: Darkrai (n27), Darkrai LV.X (n27), Dialga LV.X (n27), Palkia LV.X (n27), Chansey (n28), Weavile (n28), Honchkrow LV.X (n28), Gardevoir (n29), Gardevoir LV.X (n29). Most are LV.X cards English never printed in this set (Darkrai, Dialga, Palkia, Honchkrow, Gardevoir). A blank field here means the data does not exist in our sources, not that the card is blank.
Two sets from this era are deliberately missing from this almanac. Japan's Space-Time Creation — Diamond Collection 117 and Pearl Collection 119, the pair released on 30 November 2006 — is not itemised on the 2006 page, and World Champions Pack (108 cards, 5 July 2007) is not itemised here. In both cases the reason is the same: at the time those pages were built, no source held a verifiable Japanese card list for them. They are not omitted because they are unimportant — Space-Time Creation is where LV.X begins, and World Champions Pack is the only Japanese printing of the eight Pokémon-ex in this year's English set. They are the two biggest known gaps in this book.
Promotional cards are not listed for 2007. The DP-P series, the Battle Road and league handouts and the film distributions are real, and the section above explains why they are closed rather than guessed at.
About the scans. Card faces are Japanese prints, downloaded from the card database that holds them, and resized to a 320-pixel display width. Where only that database's own thumbnail could be fetched, the card is still a Japanese scan — no card on this page is illustrated with its English printing, which is a change from the 2004 and 2005 pages, where that substitution was unavoidable.
Four sets, 382 cards, twelve LV.X, and the year the DP block settled into March–July–October. What the year is actually remembered for is the October pair: two seventy-card half-sets sold on one day, one of them carrying Leafeon and Glaceon's first cards, the other carrying a 200 HP Wailord. It is also the year the two editions drifted furthest apart — English spent 2007 printing Japan's 2006 and the first half of 2007, and would not touch the October pair until the following spring. What is here is what could be verified. The rest is marked.
