A GUNDAM CARD GAME deck is not all mobile suits. It is a mix of nine printed card types, and the split across the whole game is lopsided in a way that tells you how the game is meant to be built.
Quick answer
The GUNDAM CARD GAME prints nine card types across its 1,148 cards. UNIT is the largest at 600 cards, followed by COMMAND at 157, PILOT at 127, RESOURCE at 107, BASE at 72, the two EX tiers at 28 each, and the two unit-token types at 27 and 2.
The nine types, counted
Across all 1,148 cards in the game as we index them:
| Type | Cards | Share | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| UNIT | 600 | 52% | A mobile suit or other machine. The cards that fight, and the only type that carries AP and HP. |
| COMMAND | 157 | 14% | An order. It resolves once and then leaves play. |
| PILOT | 127 | 11% | A character card. Pilots pair with units and unlock the paired lines on them. |
| RESOURCE | 107 | 9% | A card that pays for other cards. |
| BASE | 72 | 6% | A structure that stays in play for the game. |
| EX BASE | 28 | 2% | A base printed at the higher EX tier, placed at the start rather than drawn. |
| EX RESOURCE | 28 | 2% | A resource printed at the higher EX tier, held outside the deck. |
| UNIT TOKEN | 27 | 2% | A token unit, created by other cards rather than drawn from a deck. |
| UNIT TOKEN | 2 | 0% | A card that is printed as both a unit and a token. |
Units and pilots
727 of the 1,148 cards name a specific mobile suit or a specific character — 600 units and 127 pilots. Everything else (421 cards) is the support half of a deck: commands, bases, resources and tokens.
Those units and pilots are not spread evenly. Across the game there are 481 distinct unit names and 114 distinct pilot names, which is why some mobile suits have several cards and most have one. The Gundam index lists every one with its card count.
What carries the numbers
Level and cost appear on most types, but AP and HP appear only on units — and only on some of them. A command or a resource has neither, which is why the tables on this site leave those cells blank rather than printing a dash that might be mistaken for a zero.
Frequently asked questions
How many card types does the GUNDAM CARD GAME have?
Nine as we count them: UNIT, PILOT, COMMAND, BASE, RESOURCE, UNIT TOKEN and the higher EX tiers EX BASE and EX RESOURCE, plus a small group printed as both a unit and a token.
Which card type has AP and HP?
Units. 600 of the 1,148 cards are units, and they are the only type that carries attack and hit points. The other 421 cards are support.
Are pilots their own cards?
Yes. There are 127 pilot cards across 114 distinct characters. A pilot card pairs with the unit it lists, and the paired effect lines on both only apply while the pairing is in play.
Where can I see every card of one type?
The Gundam index groups the game by the mobile suit or pilot each card names, and each product page carries its own checklist with the type printed on every row.
