Quick answer
CardSpicy tracks the dates a publisher has actually put on paper, and Elestrals has just published one that moved. The set is Divine Champions: Snowshade, the latest expansion for the Elestrals Trading Card Game. It launches worldwide on 16 October 2026. Prerelease play opens earlier, on 9 October, and runs to 18 October. The publisher moved that window and the street date by two weeks, and says in its own announcement that this is the third product delay in a row. The next release after Snowshade is Shattered Stars: Alchemy, planned before the end of 2026, with the set after it targeted at the first quarter of 2027.
This page leans on the publisher’s own news pages, because the delay announcement and the prerelease schedule are the only places where those details are written down.
What Elestrals is, in product terms
Elestrals is a trading card game published by Elestrals LLC, and it is built around a split deck. A player brings a main deck and a separate Spirit deck, and a match is played out between two Casters who summon Elestrals to fight for them. The game uses elemental identities as its organising idea, and each expansion adds a new pool of cards rather than replacing the last one.
The part worth understanding before buying is the difference between a set and a starter product, because Elestrals sells both and they serve different buyers. An expansion is the mainline product, sold in booster packs and boxes, and it is where the new card pool lives. A Double Starter Deck is a ready-to-play product with two complete decks inside it, and the publisher uses those decks as the teaching tool at prerelease events. If any of those labels need unpicking, our glossary sets out the difference between a booster, a starter product and a sealed event.
The dated Elestrals line
| Date | What happens | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 2 October 2026 | Organised Play Season 6 begins | Started |
| 9 October 2026 | Divine Champions: Snowshade prerelease window opens | Scheduled |
| 16 October 2026 | Divine Champions: Snowshade worldwide release | Scheduled |
| 18 October 2026 | Prerelease events end | Scheduled |
| 24 October 2026 | First Snowshade Premier, 10am ET | Scheduled |
| 6 to 8 November 2026 | Elestrals Open: Columbus | Scheduled |
| Before the end of 2026 | Shattered Stars: Alchemy | Planned |
| First quarter of 2027, targeted | Set 9 | Targeted, not announced |
Two entries in that table carry a caveat the publisher wrote itself. The end of the prerelease window is fixed, but the organised play season it belongs to runs from 2 October 2026 until mid-February 2027, and the publisher states that the end date will be confirmed later in the season. The 2027 entry is a target, not a date, and the publisher says the set itself has not been announced.
The delay, in the publisher’s own words
Elestrals published a timeline update on 31 August 2026 that pushed Snowshade by two weeks. The announcement is unusually specific about cause, and the cause is not the one a buyer would guess. The publisher states plainly that there were no manufacturing issues and no product quality concerns. The delay was logistical, and it compounded across several releases: an earlier delay to the Sunstrike set pushed the production queue back for everything that followed, and the complexity of a product called Shattered Stars: Ethereal put the schedule behind again.
The same announcement does something a publisher rarely does, which is to count its own misses. It asks whether this is the third product delay in a row and answers that it is, then states that the company is unhappy this is becoming a pattern and is adjusting its manufacturing process and its 2027 product schedule to build in buffer time.
There is one detail in the update that matters if you are planning a trip to a store. The publisher had already told stores to schedule prerelease events, and moving the window meant those stores had to reschedule. The announcement says a store can do that through the Elestrals Play Network, or by contacting the publisher’s own store address, and that stores which had not yet scheduled an event should do so by 13 September 2026 to receive promos and new tournament packs. It also adds that if a store receives product early, the published window still holds: Snowshade is not distributed or playable before 9 October at prerelease stores, or before 16 October otherwise.
Prerelease: how the sealed format actually works
Elestrals does not run an ordinary sealed event, where every player opens the same kind of packs. It runs a deck-choice sealed format, and the publisher states that some stores may run an altered rules set, so the format is worth confirming with the store.
| Prerelease detail | As stated by Elestrals |
|---|---|
| Window | 9 October to 18 October 2026 |
| Deck choice | Hades versus Demeter Double Starter Deck, or Athena versus Apollo Double Starter Deck |
| Deck you build | A 40-card main deck plus a 20-card Spirit deck, from the cards in the Double Starter Deck you chose |
| What is in a Double Starter Deck | Four Divine Champions: Snowshade booster packs, plus two 60-card ready-to-play decks, each built as a 40-card main deck and a 20-card Spirit deck |
| Attendance promo | An exclusive Textured Full All Stellar Morphrost Champion of Hades, Draco Form card, while stock lasts and on a first come, first served basis |
The structure explains why the format is unusual. Because the pack you open is not the only source of cards, the deck you build is constrained to the elements inside the Double Starter Deck you picked, which is a narrower decision than a normal sealed pool. The publisher also notes that the set was added to its digital client, Elestrals Beyond, on 9 October, in line with the start of prerelease, and that the client is designed to mirror what is playable in a store.
The publisher published a set FAQ on 5 October 2026 covering the new mechanics in Snowshade, and it names two of them in the announcement of that document: a mechanic called Sever, and a card called Midas’ Touch that the FAQ singles out as tricky. The FAQ also points to the updated Comprehensive Rules, the Tournament Policy, and an errors and penalties guide. That is the reading list if you intend to play the set competitively rather than just open it.
Organised play: season six, and what the points are for
Elestrals restarted its organised play season on 2 October 2026. The publisher’s own explainer defines the moving parts, and three of them matter to anyone deciding whether to turn up to a local event.
- A season lines up with a set release. Season 6 runs from 2 October 2026 until mid-February 2027, and the end date will be confirmed later.
- Qualifier Points lead to the World Championship. The publisher states that 250 Qualifier Points earns an invite, and that additional points can earn travel stipends.
- Two separate point tracks run in parallel. Folk Hero points come from playing at stores and unlock rewards for the player and for the local community. Divine Favor points come from local events and online events together, and the publisher states that players reaching at least 1600 Divine Favor points will be sent an invoice with their prizing details pre-filled, which they must review and submit before anything ships.
At the casual end, the publisher describes a weekly League event that a local store can run once a week, where every player receives an exclusive Organised Play pack and the winner receives an additional one. That is worth knowing before buying, because a pack that only exists as an event prize is not the same kind of product as a booster box. Our open-it-or-keep-it-sealed page goes through what a limited supply usually does to a sealed product, and our card market report for October 2026 covers the wider market a new set lands in.
What this page does not claim
Four limits, stated plainly.
- Every date and detail here comes from Elestrals. The release date, the prerelease window, the delay and its stated cause, the Double Starter Deck contents, the promo card, the season dates and the next-product plans are all taken from the publisher’s own news pages. Nothing here is a retail listing.
- No card count is stated, because the publisher has not published one for this set. Elestrals lists set contents and rules documents rather than a headline card count, so this page does not invent one.
- The 2027 entry is a target. The publisher states that the next expansion after Shattered Stars: Alchemy has not been announced and that the first quarter of 2027 is what it is aiming at.
- No valuation. CardSpicy quotes the publisher’s own product details and makes no valuation or investment recommendation about any card or sealed product, including the prerelease promo card.
If you are buying into this line to open rather than to play, the card accessories page covers what you need on the table, and the guide to protecting cards with sleeves and card sleeve sizes pages cover the two decisions that come first.
Frequently asked questions
When does Divine Champions: Snowshade release?
It launches worldwide on 16 October 2026, with prerelease play from 9 October to 18 October 2026. The publisher moved both the prerelease window and the street date by two weeks in an announcement dated 31 August 2026.
Why was Snowshade delayed?
Elestrals states that the delay was logistical, not a manufacturing or quality problem. An earlier delay to the Sunstrike set pushed the production queue back for later releases, and the complexity of a product called Shattered Stars: Ethereal put the schedule behind again. The publisher also states that this is the third product delay in a row, and that it is adding buffer time to its manufacturing process and its 2027 schedule.
What is in an Elestrals Double Starter Deck?
Four Divine Champions: Snowshade booster packs, plus two 60-card ready-to-play decks. Each of those decks is built as a 40-card main deck and a 20-card Spirit deck, which is also the deck shape players build at prerelease.
How does Elestrals prerelease work?
Each player chooses either the Hades versus Demeter Double Starter Deck or the Athena versus Apollo Double Starter Deck, then builds a 40-card main deck and a 20-card Spirit deck from the cards inside it. Every player who registers and attends receives an exclusive Textured Full All Stellar Morphrost Champion of Hades, Draco Form promo card, subject to availability. The publisher notes that some stores may run an altered rules set, so it is worth confirming the format with the store.
What comes after Snowshade?
The publisher states that the next release is Shattered Stars: Alchemy, planned to launch before the end of 2026, and that the expansion after it is targeted at the first quarter of 2027 but has not been announced.
