Naruto Chase Cards, Set by Set

Quick answer

CardSpicy cannot rank Naruto cards by value, because no published price guide covers the line. What can be ranked is tier, and tier is what collectors actually chase. The cards below sit at the top of each release we track — the Land of Waves four, Zabuza and Haku among them, in Heaven Scroll and Jin Chapter Series 1; Kakashi in the SP tier of Series 1; Minato in the MR tier beside him; Gaara leading the Crystal Rare tier in Earth Scroll; and Itachi across the Series 3 numbered printings.

Without a price guide, the ordering that remains is the tier and the print run. That is not a worse ordering — it is a different one, and it is the one the manufacturer actually publishes.

Why tier is the ranking that works here

In a line with a price guide the ranking is obvious: the expensive cards are the chase cards. Naruto does not have that, so the ranking has to come from the product itself. Two things are published and reliable: the rarity code, and the numbered print run where one exists.

Where a card is numbered out of 99, that is a harder scarcity statement than any code. Where a card is an SE with a run of 199, 699 or 999, the denominator tells you more than the letters do. Read both.

Land of Waves: Zabuza and Haku

The clearest single group of chase cards in the line is the Land of Waves four: Sasuke, Naruto, Zabuza and Haku, printed as the SE cards of Heaven Scroll Series 1. It is a named group rather than an incidental one, and it is the first thing to look for when a Heaven Scroll box is opened.

Zabuza and Haku also hold SE slots in Jin Chapter Series 1, which means the same pair of characters sits at the top of two different releases. If you are collecting the pair specifically, there are two distinct cards to find rather than one.

Kakashi and Minato in Jin Chapter Series 1

Series 1 places Kakashi Hatake in its SP tier, where he is named alongside Naruto and Sasuke, and Minato Namikaze in its MR tier, again alongside Naruto and Kakashi. That makes Series 1 unusual: two of its top tiers are anchored by a teacher and a father rather than by the protagonist alone.

For a collector building around the Fourth Hokage, the MR tier of Series 1 is the card to look for. For Kakashi, it is the SP tier.

Gaara and the Crystal Rare tier

Earth Scroll introduces the CR tier — Crystal Rare — and it is a tier-two exclusive, which means it does not appear in the Jin Chapter sets we track at all. Gaara is the character most associated with it across Earth Scroll Series 1 and Series 2, alongside Neji in the same tier.

Earth Scroll Series 2 also adds a Diamond-UR tier of four cards, which Series 1 does not carry. If you are chasing the top of the Earth Scroll line, Series 2 is the version with the extra tier rather than simply a larger card list.

Itachi and the numbered printings

Itachi Uchiha has the widest spread across the top tiers we track. He is named in the CR tier of Earth Scroll Series 2 and in the BP tier of Jin Chapter Series 3, the North American edition built around numbered printings running to 99, 220, 777 and 999.

There is also a box named after him — the Itachi Cloud Box, which carries the CP tier, the Cloud Print, as an exclusive. That makes Itachi the character with a top tier that exists only inside a single product, which is a useful thing to know before looking for a CP card in a booster box.

How to search for one of these cards

Search by character name plus code plus set, in that order. A search for the character alone returns cards from every release at once, and on this line those cards look similar enough that the tier is often the only difference between them. Add the edition — SEA or NA — when the same series exists in both.

If a listing photo does not show the code and the card number, ask for one. On a line with no price guide, the code and the denominator are the only two facts in the listing you can check, and a seller who cannot produce them is a seller to slow down on.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most valuable Naruto card?

We do not answer that, and it is not evasion. No published price guide covers Naruto cards, so any single card named as the most valuable would be an opinion presented as a fact. What can be said is which cards sit at the top of each release by tier and print run, which is what this article does instead.

How many Land of Waves cards are there?

Four, as a named group: Sasuke, Naruto, Zabuza and Haku, printed as the SE cards of Heaven Scroll Series 1. Zabuza and Haku also hold SE slots in Jin Chapter Series 1, so the pair specifically exists in two releases rather than one.

Which Naruto set has the hardest chase cards?

It depends what you are chasing. Jin Chapter Series 3 carries the hardest scarcity statement, because its top tiers are numbered out of 99, 220, 777 and 999. Heaven Scroll Series 1 has the most recognisable named group, the Land of Waves four. Earth Scroll is where the CR tier lives, and the CR tier appears in no Jin Chapter set we track.

Where do the Itachi Cloud Box cards sit?

The CP tier — Cloud Print — is exclusive to the Itachi Cloud Box, so a CP card comes out of that product and not out of a booster box. That makes it one of the few tiers in the line tied to a single named product rather than to a tier of box.

Do these cards have prices listed anywhere on the site?

No. The Naruto section quotes no values, in any table, on any page. The reason is set out in our article on why there is no Naruto price guide: the inputs a price would need are not published for this line, and a number we cannot source is worse than no number.

The card-by-card detail is on the Naruto card list — every card we index, with the printed data and a note on each.
