The Godzilla Card Game’s Minus Zero set: the dated releases

Quick answer

CardSpicy works from the publisher’s own product pages, and for the Godzilla Card Game those pages settle a detail that resellers get wrong. The game’s fifth booster pack is dated December 2026, at 440 yen per pack. The three Battle Begins! starter decks that launch alongside it are dated 6 November 2026, at 1,500 yen each. Both releases draw on Godzilla Minus Zero, the new film that opens in Japan on 3 November 2026, and the booster carries hot-stamped autograph cards signed by the film’s director, Takashi Yamazaki.

The starter decks and the booster are two different dates, and the gap between them is the reason this page separates them.

What the Godzilla Card Game is, in product terms

The Godzilla Card Game is a two-player card game built on Toho’s monster catalogue. Players build around different colours and monsters and use Monster, Battle, Strategy and Rage Cards to push a kaiju into the opposing side. It is supported by Bushiroad, the publisher behind Cardfight!! Vanguard and Weiss Schwarz, and it has run organized play, a restriction list and a Japanese national championship since it launched.

The game is young. Its first booster, Godzilla versus Godzilla, arrived on 5 July 2025, and it has added a set roughly every few months since, so the December booster will be the fifth. For a collector weighing whether to follow a new game, that cadence is the thing to look at, and our glossary unpicks the difference between a booster, a starter deck and a reprint set if any of those labels need it.

The dated Godzilla Card Game line

Release Product Type
5 July 2025 Godzilla versus Godzilla Booster Pack 01
4 October 2025 Gyakushuu no Kaijuu Daikessen “G” Booster Pack 02
27 December 2025 Godzilla Minus One and Heisei versus Series Starter Deck Set
10 January 2026 Koutekijuu no Kyoumei Booster Pack 03
25 April 2026 Owarinaki Kessen (Endless Wars) Booster Pack 04
6 November 2026 Battle Begins! Starter Decks, three of them Starter Decks
December 2026 Godzilla Minus Zero Booster Pack 05

The 6 November date is the one to note, because the same three decks are listed by some resellers as a December release. That is not what the publisher says. Bushiroad dates the three starter decks to 6 November and the booster pack to December, and the two are separate products. Anyone planning a purchase around the movie should know that the ready-to-play decks land before the set that feeds them.

The December booster: Godzilla Minus Zero

The fifth booster is built on the new film. The publisher’s own product page states that the set includes cards from Godzilla Minus Zero as well as Godzilla Minus One, and that hot-stamped autograph cards signed by director Takashi Yamazaki appear at an extremely low rate. Yamazaki directed both films, and his signature card is the chase item of the set.

Booster Pack 05 As listed by Bushiroad
Release December 2026
Price 440 yen per pack including tax
Cards per pack 7
Packs per box 12, at 5,280 yen including tax
Boxes per carton 18, at 95,040 yen including tax
Card types To be announced

Two things on that table are worth reading carefully. The pack configuration is smaller than most trading card games use — seven cards to a pack rather than ten or twelve — so a box holds fewer cards than it looks. And the card count is, at the time of writing, not published. The publisher states that the number of card types and the contents will be announced later. That is a limit rather than a gap in this page: nothing here should be read as a card list, and no count is inferred from anywhere other than the publisher.

If you are buying the booster to open, our card market report is the place for the wider picture, and the open-it-or-keep-it-sealed page goes through the decision that follows a movie tie-in of this kind.

The Battle Begins! starter decks

The three starter decks are the on-ramp for the set. Each is built to play straight out of the box, mixing new cards with reprints from earlier sets, and the publisher states that every deck contains at least one Special-rarity card. The red deck is the one tied to the new film.

Deck Colour Built around Featured films
Godzilla Red Godzilla, and the new film’s cards Godzilla (1954), Godzilla Minus One (2023), Godzilla Minus Zero (2026)
Destoroyah Blue Destoroyah, with Evolution and Strategy Cards Godzilla versus Destoroyah (1995) and others
King Ghidorah Green King Ghidorah, spanning the Showa and Heisei series Godzilla versus King Ghidorah (1991) and others

Each deck is configured the same way. The publisher lists a main deck of 50 cards and a monster deck of 4 cards, plus Rage Cards, Zone Cards and rule cards. The parallels run to 8 Special-rarity types and 1 type of a further parallel, and the publisher notes that some cards may appear as parallel versions instead of their standard printing.

The decks are dated 6 November 2026 at 1,500 yen each, sold six to a box and eight boxes to a carton. Bushiroad has also announced a starter-deck-only constructed tournament format, in which only the cards from these three decks may be used, and a set of beginner events to run alongside the release. For a new player that combination is the reason to start here rather than with the booster: the decks are playable on their own, and the events exist to use them.

If you are new and want to know how to keep what you open in good condition, our guide to protecting cards with sleeves and the card sleeve sizes page are the two to read first.

Accessories dated to the same day

Bushiroad has dated a run of accessories to 6 November 2026 as well, which is the same day as the starter decks. The line includes a rubber playmat carrying the 2026 Godzilla, at 3,300 yen including tax, and three deck holders — Godzilla (2026), the complete Destoroyah, and King Ghidorah (1991) — at 924 yen each including tax.

The deliberate part is the pairing. A player who buys a starter deck on 6 November can buy the mat and the matching deck holder on the same trip, and the accessories carry the same film references as the decks. For anyone weighing a mat against a box or a binder, our binders, boxes and frames page compares the three, and the card protection guide covers what to store a deck in once it is built.

A note on cards and language

The publisher attaches two practical notes to its product pages. The first is the card size, 63 by 88 millimetres, which is the standard trading card size and the reason a widely sold sleeve or binder page will fit. The second is a rules note: in sanctioned and official tournaments held in Japan, cards in other languages cannot be used, with the exception of certain cards such as the Rage Cards. Anyone buying across regions should read that before assuming a card will be legal at their local event.

Both notes matter for a product tied to a Japanese film release, because the film opens in Japan first and the game’s competitive scene is largest there. A buyer outside Japan should treat the Japanese dates on this page as the publisher’s dates and check their own region’s listing for when the product actually arrives. Our is it worth grading page covers when a card is worth sending away, which for a signed chase card is a real question.

What this page does not claim

Four limits, stated plainly.

  • Every date, price and product detail here comes from Bushiroad’s own pages. The booster’s December date and 440 yen price, the starter decks’ 6 November date and 1,500 yen price, the 50-card and 4-card deck configuration, the 8 Special-rarity and 1 further parallel types, and the accessory line are all taken from the publisher’s own product pages.
  • The December booster’s card count is not published. The publisher states that the number of card types and the product contents will be announced later. Nothing on this page is a card list, and no count is given where the publisher gives none.
  • The dates are the publisher’s Japanese schedule. The Godzilla Card Game’s official product pages are Japanese, and the release dates stated here are the Japanese ones. Other regions follow their own listings.
  • No valuation. CardSpicy quotes the publisher’s own suggested retail prices and makes no valuation or investment recommendation about any card or sealed product, including the autograph cards.

If you are buying from this line to open, our card market report for October 2026 is the place for the wider picture, and the card accessories page covers what you need on the table. For storage, the card storage boxes and penny sleeve versus toploader pages cover the two decisions that come first.
