  • The Two Scyther Cards Worth Owning

The Two Scyther Cards Worth Owning

    Quick answer

CardSpicy (cardspicy.com) ranks the most valuable Scyther cards printed in the Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English lines. Rocket’s Scyther EX leads at $9,100 as a PSA 10, and the rankings use tracked PSA 10 sales rather than raw prices. Simplified Chinese set codes end in C, the marker of a Chinese-exclusive print run.

Scyther appears on 2 Chinese-exclusive printings, 3 further Simplified Chinese printings, 38 Japanese, 3 Korean and 55 English numbered Pokémon cards, and this page covers every language the character was printed in — Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English lines.

Scyther carries 2 numbered Chinese-exclusive printings, and an English line wide enough that the top of it is decided by vintage printings rather than modern ones. The head of the list is Scyther [Reverse] #123 (151C) at $39. Everything below is arranged by what each card actually trades for, so the page reads the same way whoever is reading it — the Chinese lines come first, and only the numbers change.

    How this list was built

Four rules, applied in this order.

    • The card has to be a numbered Pokémon card. Sealed product, trainer cards and energy are out of scope across every line on this page.
    • The Chinese list is restricted to Chinese-exclusive numbering. Every card in the first list carries a set code ending in C — 151C, CBB1C, CBB5C, CSM2aC, CSV9C. That trailing letter is the dependable way to tell a Simplified Chinese print run from a card that merely happens to be printed in Chinese.
    • The card has to carry a tracked market value. Cards with no graded sold record yet are named at the end of each language section rather than ranked, because there is nothing to rank them on.
    • Prices are PSA 10 market values, and how each one was arrived at is marked. Every figure comes from PriceCharting. Where a PSA 10 copy has actually sold in the last six months, that figure is the median of those sales and the card’s position rests on real trades. Where it has not, the top-grade number is a model output: those cards are marked ‡, or † if the model figure ran so far past what the card’s own lower grades support that the ranking caps it. The raw and grade 9 prices are printed under every card so the traded level is always visible.

The Simplified Chinese list — Chinese-exclusive sets

Every card here sits in a set whose code ends in C — the Simplified Chinese numbering line. Promos and 30th Celebration are excluded, because their numbering is shared across the Chinese branches rather than being Chinese-exclusive.

    2. Scyther — 151C #123 — $36

Scyther — 151 Collect, Simplified Chinese Pokemon card
    Scyther · 151 Collect

    Raw $1.44 · grade 9 $12.21 · PSA 10 $36.06

At number two, close enough to the top that the pair reads as one tier. A raw copy is a $1.44 card and the tracked graded tier is $36.06, a 25× separation. Collect 151 is the Simplified Chinese set built around the original 151, and the art rares at the head of each group were commissioned as a single body of work. At 48.1% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

    1. Scyther [Reverse] — 151C #123 — $39

Scyther [Reverse] — 151 Collect, Simplified Chinese Pokemon card
    Scyther [Reverse] · 151 Collect

    Raw $2.11 · grade 9 $4.25 · PSA 10 $38.87

First place, and the only card here that a casual buyer would recognise as expensive on sight. It alone holds 51.9% of the value in the ten below it. A raw copy is a $2.11 card and the tracked graded tier is $38.87, a 18× separation. 151C supplies two cards to the ten above, and this is the lower of the pair. At 51.9% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

This line only yields 2 priced printings for Scyther. Another 5 numbered printings in this line carry no graded sold record yet and are therefore not ranked.

    The Japanese list

Japanese is the original language of the TCG, so this list reaches further back than either of the other two — into the 1996 promos, the Gold Star era and the modern art rares alike.

    10. Scyther [1st Edition] — Wind from the Sea #17 — $224

Scyther [1st Edition], Japanese Pokemon card
Scyther [1st Edition] · Wind from the Sea

    Raw $15.82 · grade 9 $26 · PSA 10 $224.50

Tenth place among the 38 priced printings in this line. A raw copy is a $15.82 card and the tracked graded tier is $224.50, a 14× separation. It is one of 3 cards from Wind from the Sea inside the ten above, which is a lot of the list to come from a single product.

    9. Scyther [1st Edition] — Wind from the Sea #16 — $260

Scyther [1st Edition], Japanese Pokemon card
Scyther [1st Edition] · Wind from the Sea

    Raw $23.20 · grade 9 $75.33 · PSA 10 $260

Ninth of the 38 priced printings in this line. Raw to graded is 11.2× — $23.20 ungraded against $260. It is one of 3 cards from Wind from the Sea inside the ten above, which is a lot of the list to come from a single product.

    8. Scyther ex — Treecko Starter Deck #1 — $297†

    Scyther ex, Japanese Pokemon card
Scyther ex · Treecko Starter Deck

    Raw $16.46 · grade 9 $24.77 · PSA 10 $338

Eighth of the 38 priced printings in this line. A raw copy is a $16.46 card and the tracked graded tier is $338, a 21× separation. † No PSA 10 copy of this card has been sold in the last six months, so PriceCharting’s top-grade figure is a model output rather than a traded price. The ranking caps it at the ceiling this card’s own lower grades support; the tracked figure is printed in the line above.

    7. Scyther [Series III] — Vending #123 — $429

Scyther [Series III], Japanese Pokemon card
    Scyther [Series III] · Vending

    Raw $30.34 · grade 9 $85.61 · PSA 10 $429.21

Seventh of the 38 priced printings in this line. A raw copy is a $30.34 card and the tracked graded tier is $429.21, a 14× separation. The Vending series was distributed through vending-machine sheets rather than booster packs, which is why its printings are usually found in played condition.

    6. Scyther [Reverse Holo] — Reviving Legends #5 — $454

Scyther [Reverse Holo], Japanese Pokemon card
Scyther [Reverse Holo] · Reviving Legends

    Raw $25.66 · PSA 10 $453.50

Number 6 of the 38 cards in this line that carry a tracked value. A raw copy is a $25.66 card and the tracked graded tier is $453.50, a 18× separation. No grade 9 value is tracked for this card, so the PSA 10 figure stands on its own.

    5. Scyther — Promo #49/L-P — $475

    Scyther, Japanese Pokemon card
    Scyther · Promo

    Raw $263.42 · grade 9 $393 · PSA 10 $475

Fifth of the 38 priced printings in this line. Raw and graded separate by only 1.80×, which is tight for this character. Japanese promo numbering runs across more than two decades of distributions — CoroCoro mail-ins, tournament prizes, movie giveaways and Pokémon Center releases all share the same prefix.

    4. Scyther — Wind from the Sea #16 — $500

    Scyther, Japanese Pokemon card
Scyther · Wind from the Sea

    Raw $21.45 · grade 9 $69.88 · PSA 10 $500

At fourth place among the 38 priced printings here. A raw copy is a $21.45 card and the tracked graded tier is $500, a 23× separation. It is one of 3 cards from Wind from the Sea inside the ten above, which is a lot of the list to come from a single product.

    3. Scyther — Jungle #123 — $571

    Scyther, Japanese Pokemon card
    Scyther · Jungle

    Raw $16.67 · grade 9 $117.83 · PSA 10 $570.66

A raw copy is a $16.67 card and the tracked graded tier is $570.66, a 34× separation. One of the 38 Japanese printings of this character in our catalogue that carry a tracked market value.

    2. Rocket’s Scyther ex [1st Edition] — Rocket Gang Strikes Back #61 — $1,008

Rocket's Scyther ex [1st Edition], Japanese Pokemon card
Rocket’s Scyther ex [1st Edition] · Rocket Gang Strikes Back

    Raw $175.37 · grade 9 $387.21 · PSA 10 $1,008

At number two, close enough to the top that the pair reads as one tier. It sits 1.81× below the card above. The grading premium is a moderate 5.7×, $175.37 raw against $1,008 graded. Rocket Gang Strikes Back supplies two cards to the ten above, and this is the lower of the pair.

    1. Rocket’s Scyther ex — Rocket Gang Strikes Back #61 — $1,825

Rocket's Scyther ex, Japanese Pokemon card
Rocket’s Scyther ex · Rocket Gang Strikes Back

    Raw $106.05 · grade 9 $290.08 · PSA 10 $1,825

Heading the list, by a margin wide enough to matter more than any other single number on the page. It alone holds 30.2% of the value in the ten below it. A raw copy is a $106.05 card and the tracked graded tier is $1,825, a 17× separation. Rocket Gang Strikes Back supplies two cards to the ten above, and this is the lower of the pair.

    Ranks 11 and beyond

These carry a tracked value but sit outside the ten above. They are listed rather than written up, because at this level the numbers are close enough that a paragraph each would repeat itself.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the most valuable Scyther card in Simplified Chinese?

Among the Chinese-exclusive numbered sets, Scyther [Reverse] #123 carries the highest tracked value at $39. Promos and other non-C numbered printings sit outside that comparison.

How many Scyther cards exist in the Chinese-exclusive sets?

2 of the numbered Chinese-exclusive printings for this character carry a tracked market value in our catalogue.

Which Scyther card leads the Japanese list?

Rocket’s Scyther ex #61 from Rocket Gang Strikes Back at $1,825. Japanese is the original printing line, so its top of the list reaches back further than either Chinese or English.

Which Scyther card leads the English list?

Rocket’s Scyther EX #102 from Team Rocket Returns at $9,100.

What do the marks next to some prices mean?

0 of the thirty ranked cards carry a mark. A double dagger (‡) means no PSA 10 copy of that card has sold in the last six months, so the graded price is a model output rather than a traded one. A single dagger (†) means the same thing, taken further: the model figure ran past the ceiling the card’s own lower grades support, so the ranking uses the capped number instead. 2 of them were reduced as well.

Is a PSA 10 worth the premium over a raw card?

It depends entirely on the card. On cheap modern printings the raw-to-graded multiple runs into double figures, which makes grading look like free money until you count the fee and the risk of the card coming back a nine. On the four-figure cards the multiple narrows, because the raw copy already carries most of the premium.

    The other printing lines

Scyther is printed in more lines than the three listed above. One line is kept here rather than dropped: the European languages we cannot price. None of them carries a market we can rank honestly, and each one below says why. They are folded because the ranked lists above should stay readable — open any of them to see that line in full.

Other-language printings — French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese

    not ranked here

The Pokémon Trading Card Game has been printed in more languages than any one page usually admits. The Pokémon Company’s own figures put it at sixteen languages across its history and thirteen in current release: Japanese, English, German, French, Italian, European and Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean, both Chinese lines, Thai and Indonesian. Dutch, Polish and Russian runs existed earlier and have since stopped.

Not one of the European lines is listed or ranked on this page, and the reason sits with the price source rather than with the cards. Every figure on this page comes from PriceCharting, whose Pokémon catalogue runs to 803 set listings: 395 Japanese, 94 Chinese, 59 Korean and the remaining 255 English. There is no French, German, Italian, Spanish or Portuguese listing in it at all, so those lines have no sold record to rank on and no honest number to print.

That does not make those cards uncollected. German, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese Base Set printings are genuine late-1990s products with their own collectors, and Portuguese cards were printed for Portugal first and for Brazil later. They simply trade in far thinner markets than the English and Japanese lines, and the sold records that exist are too scattered to rank a list from.

If we ever have a source for those languages that we would put our name to, that line will appear here with the same treatment as the others — a ranked ten, traded and modelled figures marked separately, and the raw and grade 9 prices printed underneath.

    More Pokémon

This page is one entry in a catalogue that covers every Pokémon in the line. The first 151 are all here, and beyond them the collection continues.

If you are looking at the whole Chinese market rather than one character, the ten most popular Chinese-exclusive cards ranks across Pokémon, the price ladder sorts the same catalogue into bands, and how many Chinese-exclusive cards exist sets out the full count. For the differences against the Japanese line, this comparison sets them out, and where to buy Simplified Chinese Pokémon cards compares the four buying routes.

    Where to buy these cards

CardSpicy sells the cards in this guide as PSA 10 (Gem Mint) slabs only — no raw cards, and no grades below PSA 10. An in-stock listing states the PSA certification number and shows the exact slab photographed; the rest of the range is sourced to order.

    Other character rankings

Each character with a full five or ten-card ranking has its own page: Ceruledge, Charizard, Eevee, Espeon, Flareon, Floragato, Gengar, Glaceon, Jolteon, Leafeon, Mew, Pikachu, Sylveon, Umbreon, Vaporeon, and among the shorter runs Alakazam, Applin, Articuno, Blastoise, Captain Pikachu, Chandelure, Chansey, Charmander, Clefable, Crocalor, Cubone, Fuecoco.

Beyond the single character, the ten most popular Chinese-exclusive cards ranks across Pokémon, the price ladder sorts the same catalogue into bands, and the collector’s index lists every Pokémon that appears in the Chinese-only sets with its card count, priced count and top value.

We do not hold a Scyther slab in Simplified Chinese — the character is outside our current stock. The cards we do hold are listed in the PSA 10 collection.

The Two Hypno Cards Worth Owning

    Quick answer

CardSpicy (cardspicy.com) ranks the most valuable Hypno cards printed in the Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English lines. Hypno [Reverse Holo] leads at $6,000 as a PSA 10, and the rankings use tracked PSA 10 sales rather than raw prices. Simplified Chinese set codes end in C, the marker of a Chinese-exclusive print run.

Hypno appears on 2 Chinese-exclusive printings, 1 further Simplified Chinese printings, 21 Japanese, 6 Korean and 36 English numbered Pokémon cards, and this page covers every language the character was printed in — Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English lines.

Hypno carries 2 numbered Chinese-exclusive printings. The head of the list is Hypno #77 (csv8C) at $38.

    2. Hypno — 151C #97 — $38

Hypno — 151 Collect, Simplified Chinese Pokemon card
    Hypno · 151 Collect

    Raw $1.79 · grade 9 $12.75 · PSA 10 $37.53

Second of the 2 priced printings in this line, and the last card before the list begins to separate. A raw copy is a $1.79 card and the tracked graded tier is $37.53, a 21× separation. Collect 151 is the Simplified Chinese set built around the original 151, and the art rares at the head of each group were commissioned as a single body of work. At 49.7% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

    1. Hypno — csv8C #77 — $38

    Hypno, Simplified Chinese Pokemon card
    Hypno · CSV8C

    Raw $1.69 · grade 9 $12.29 · PSA 10 $37.93

Heading the list, by a margin wide enough to matter more than any other single number on the page. It alone holds 50.3% of the value in the ten below it. A raw copy is a $1.69 card and the tracked graded tier is $37.93, a 22× separation. Brilliant Fantasy is a modern-length Chinese set with the usual art-rare tail. At 50.3% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

This line only yields 2 priced printings for Hypno. Another 5 numbered printings in this line carry no graded sold record yet and are therefore not ranked.

    The Japanese list

Japanese is the original language of the TCG, so this list reaches further back than either of the other two — into the 1996 promos, the Gold Star era and the modern art rares alike.

    1. Hypno — The Town on No Map #42 — $1,259

    Hypno, Japanese Pokemon card
Hypno · The Town on No Map

    Raw $80 · grade 9 $193.79 · PSA 10 $1,259

    Ranks 11 and beyond

These carry a tracked value but sit outside the ten above. They are listed rather than written up, because at this level the numbers are close enough that a paragraph each would repeat itself.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the most valuable Hypno card in Simplified Chinese?

Among the Chinese-exclusive numbered sets, Hypno #77 carries the highest tracked value at $38. Promos and other non-C numbered printings sit outside that comparison.

How many Hypno cards exist in the Chinese-exclusive sets?

2 of the numbered Chinese-exclusive printings for this character carry a tracked market value in our catalogue.

Which Hypno card leads the Japanese list?

Hypno #42 from The Town on No Map at $1,259. Japanese is the original printing line, so its top of the list reaches back further than either Chinese or English.

Which Hypno card leads the English list?

Hypno [Reverse Holo] #25 from Legendary Collection at $6,000.

Hypno is printed in more lines than the three listed above.

We do not hold a Hypno slab in Simplified Chinese — the character is outside our current stock. The cards we do hold are listed in the PSA 10 collection.

  • The Two Dodrio Cards Worth Owning

The Two Dodrio Cards Worth Owning

    Quick answer

CardSpicy (cardspicy.com) ranks the most valuable Dodrio cards printed in the Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English lines. Dodrio [Reverse Holo] leads at $1,620 as a PSA 10, and the rankings use tracked PSA 10 sales rather than raw prices. Simplified Chinese set codes end in C, the marker of a Chinese-exclusive print run.

Dodrio appears on 2 Chinese-exclusive printings, 2 further Simplified Chinese printings, 11 Japanese, 2 Korean and 31 English numbered Pokémon cards, and this page covers every language the character was printed in — Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English lines.

Dodrio carries 2 numbered Chinese-exclusive printings. The head of the list is Dodrio #85 (151C) at $40.

    2. Dodrio — 151C #163 — $27

Dodrio — 151 Collect, Simplified Chinese Pokemon card
    Dodrio · 151 Collect

    Raw $5.77 · grade 9 $18.89 · PSA 10 $27

At number two, close enough to the top that the pair reads as one tier. The grading premium is a moderate 4.7×, $5.77 raw against $27 graded. Collect 151 is the Simplified Chinese set built around the original 151, and the art rares at the head of each group were commissioned as a single body of work. At 40.0% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

    1. Dodrio — 151C #85 — $40

Dodrio — 151 Collect, Simplified Chinese Pokemon card
    Dodrio · 151 Collect

    Raw $2.49 · grade 9 $13.82 · PSA 10 $40.46

Heading the list, by a margin wide enough to matter more than any other single number on the page. It alone holds 60.0% of the value in the ten below it. A raw copy is a $2.49 card and the tracked graded tier is $40.46, a 16× separation. 151C supplies two cards to the ten above, and this is the lower of the pair. At 60.0% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

This line only yields 2 priced printings for Dodrio. Another 2 numbered printings in this line carry no graded sold record yet and are therefore not ranked.

    The Japanese list

Japanese is the original language of the TCG, so this list reaches further back than either of the other two — into the 1996 promos, the Gold Star era and the modern art rares alike.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the most valuable Dodrio card in Simplified Chinese?

Among the Chinese-exclusive numbered sets, Dodrio #85 carries the highest tracked value at $40. Promos and other non-C numbered printings sit outside that comparison.

How many Dodrio cards exist in the Chinese-exclusive sets?

2 of the numbered Chinese-exclusive printings for this character carry a tracked market value in our catalogue.

Which Dodrio card leads the Japanese list?

Dodrio [Series 1] #85 from Vending at $355. Japanese is the original printing line, so its top of the list reaches back further than either Chinese or English.

Which Dodrio card leads the English list?

Dodrio [Reverse Holo] #46 from Aquapolis at $1,620.

Dodrio is printed in more lines than the three listed above.

We do not hold a Dodrio slab in Simplified Chinese — the character is outside our current stock. The cards we do hold are listed in the PSA 10 collection.

  • The Two Kangaskhan Cards Worth Owning

The Two Kangaskhan Cards Worth Owning

    Quick answer

CardSpicy (cardspicy.com) ranks the most valuable Kangaskhan cards printed in the Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English lines. Kangaskhan [Family Event Trophy Card] leads at $465,360 as a PSA 10, and the rankings use tracked PSA 10 sales rather than raw prices. Simplified Chinese set codes end in C, the marker of a Chinese-exclusive print run.

Kangaskhan appears on 2 Chinese-exclusive printings, 1 further Simplified Chinese printings, 34 Japanese, 3 Korean and 52 English numbered Pokémon cards, and this page covers every language the character was printed in — Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English lines.

Kangaskhan carries 2 numbered Chinese-exclusive printings, and an English line wide enough that the top of it is decided by vintage printings rather than modern ones. The head of the list is Kangaskhan EX #182 (151C) at $39.

    Kangaskhan EX · 151 Collect

    Raw $1.68 · grade 9 $13.43 · PSA 10 $22.50

At number two, close enough to the top that the pair reads as one tier. It sits 1.75× below the card above. A raw copy is a $1.68 card and the tracked graded tier is $22.50, a 13× separation. Collect 151 is the Simplified Chinese set built around the original 151, and the art rares at the head of each group were commissioned as a single body of work. At 36.3% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

    1. Kangaskhan EX — 151C #182 — $39

Kangaskhan EX — 151 Collect, Simplified Chinese Pokemon card
    Kangaskhan EX · 151 Collect

    Raw $2.25 · grade 9 $8.77 · PSA 10 $39.47

Heading the list, by a margin wide enough to matter more than any other single number on the page. It alone holds 63.7% of the value in the ten below it. A raw copy is a $2.25 card and the tracked graded tier is $39.47, a 18× separation. 151C supplies two cards to the ten above, and this is the lower of the pair. At 63.7% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

This line only yields 2 priced printings for Kangaskhan. Another 3 numbered printings in this line carry no graded sold record yet and are therefore not ranked.

Japanese is the original language of the TCG, so this list reaches further back than either of the other two — into the 1996 promos, the Gold Star era and the modern art rares alike.

A raw copy is a $24.98 card and the tracked graded tier is $472.50, a 19× separation. The Vending series was distributed through vending-machine sheets rather than booster packs, which is why its printings are usually found in played condition.

    2. Kangaskhan — Jungle #115 — $1,187†

    Kangaskhan, Japanese Pokemon card
    Kangaskhan · Jungle

    Raw $9.99 · grade 9 $98.88 · PSA 10 $1,225

At number two, close enough to the top that the pair reads as one tier. The step down from the card above is 392×, the widest gap on the page. A raw copy is a $9.99 card and the tracked graded tier is $1,225, a 123× separation. † No PSA 10 copy of this card has been sold in the last six months, so PriceCharting’s top-grade figure is a model output rather than a traded price. The ranking caps it at the ceiling this card’s own lower grades support; the tracked figure is printed in the line above.

    1. Kangaskhan [Family Event Trophy Card] — Promo #115 — $465,360

Kangaskhan [Family Event Trophy Card], Japanese Pokemon card
Kangaskhan [Family Event Trophy Card] · Promo

    grade 9 $95,000 · PSA 10 $465,360

Heading the list, by a margin wide enough to matter more than any other single number on the page. It alone holds 99.3% of the value in the ten below it. Below it the list falls away sharply — the next card down is 392× cheaper. Japanese promo numbering runs across more than two decades of distributions — CoroCoro mail-ins, tournament prizes, movie giveaways and Pokémon Center releases all share the same prefix.

    Ranks 11 and beyond

These carry a tracked value but sit outside the ten above. They are listed rather than written up, because at this level the numbers are close enough that a paragraph each would repeat itself.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the most valuable Kangaskhan card in Simplified Chinese?

Among the Chinese-exclusive numbered sets, Kangaskhan EX #182 carries the highest tracked value at $39. Promos and other non-C numbered printings sit outside that comparison.

How many Kangaskhan cards exist in the Chinese-exclusive sets?

2 of the numbered Chinese-exclusive printings for this character carry a tracked market value in our catalogue.

Which Kangaskhan card leads the Japanese list?

Kangaskhan [Family Event Trophy Card] #115 from Promo at $465,360. Japanese is the original printing line, so its top of the list reaches back further than either Chinese or English.

Which Kangaskhan card leads the English list?

Kangaskhan [1st Edition] #5 from Jungle at $9,865.

Why are the Korean (3 printings listed here) not in a top ten?

Because a top ten should be a market, not a category. Those lines are thin enough that a ranked list would be an artefact of how few copies have sold rather than a statement about what the cards are worth, so they are listed in full instead of ranked — you will find both of them folded away at the foot of this page. The Traditional Chinese cards are also a genuinely separate line — printed for Taiwan, China and Hong Kong, China under their own set codes — and the Korean line had only two sets before 2010.

Kangaskhan is printed in more lines than the three listed above. Two more lines are kept here rather than dropped: the Korean printings and the European languages we cannot price. None of them carries a market we can rank honestly, and each one below says why. They are folded because the ranked lists above should stay readable — open any of them to see that line in full.

    Korean printings

    3 printings

Korean is the smallest line of the six, and the one with the strangest history. Only two Korean-language sets existed before 2010 — a 2000 Base Set reprint and a 2003 ADV set — before the TCG became a permanent fixture in South Korea with Start of an Adventure that year; from 2011 onward the Korean sets have mirrored the Japanese ones. The Base Set holos, printed in Korean exactly once, are what most collectors mean when they say Korean.

We do not hold a Kangaskhan slab in Simplified Chinese — the character is outside our current stock. The cards we do hold are listed in the PSA 10 collection.

  • The Two Dratini Cards Worth Owning

The Two Dratini Cards Worth Owning

    Quick answer

CardSpicy (cardspicy.com) ranks the most valuable Dratini cards printed in the Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English lines. Dratini [Reverse Holo] leads at $20,000 as a PSA 10, and the rankings use tracked PSA 10 sales rather than raw prices. Simplified Chinese set codes end in C, the marker of a Chinese-exclusive print run.

Dratini appears on 2 Chinese-exclusive printings, 1 further Simplified Chinese printings, 33 Japanese, 3 Korean and 62 English numbered Pokémon cards, and this page covers every language the character was printed in — Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English lines.

Dratini carries 2 numbered Chinese-exclusive printings, and an English line wide enough that the top of it is decided by vintage printings rather than modern ones. The head of the list is Dratini #147 (151C) at $39.

    2. Dratini [Reverse] — 151C #147 — $20

Dratini [Reverse] — 151 Collect, Simplified Chinese Pokemon card
    Dratini [Reverse] · 151 Collect

    Raw $3.50 · PSA 10 $19.99

Second of the 2 priced printings in this line, and the last card before the list begins to separate. It sits 1.96× below the card above. The grading premium is a moderate 5.7×, $3.50 raw against $19.99 graded. Collect 151 is the Simplified Chinese set built around the original 151, and the art rares at the head of each group were commissioned as a single body of work. At 33.7% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

    1. Dratini — 151C #147 — $39

Dratini — 151 Collect, Simplified Chinese Pokemon card
    Dratini · 151 Collect

    Raw $2.21 · grade 9 $13.40 · PSA 10 $39.28

Heading the list, by a margin wide enough to matter more than any other single number on the page. It alone holds 66.3% of the value in the ten below it. A raw copy is a $2.21 card and the tracked graded tier is $39.28, a 18× separation. 151C supplies two cards to the ten above, and this is the lower of the pair. At 66.3% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

This line only yields 2 priced printings for Dratini. Another 3 numbered printings in this line carry no graded sold record yet and are therefore not ranked.

    The Japanese list

Japanese is the original language of the TCG, so this list reaches further back than either of the other two — into the 1996 promos, the Gold Star era and the modern art rares alike.

A raw copy is a $28.49 card and the tracked graded tier is $8,000, a 281× separation. Japanese promo numbering runs across more than two decades of distributions — CoroCoro mail-ins, tournament prizes, movie giveaways and Pokémon Center releases all share the same prefix.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the most valuable Dratini card in Simplified Chinese?

Among the Chinese-exclusive numbered sets, Dratini #147 carries the highest tracked value at $39. Promos and other non-C numbered printings sit outside that comparison.

How many Dratini cards exist in the Chinese-exclusive sets?

2 of the numbered Chinese-exclusive printings for this character carry a tracked market value in our catalogue.

Which Dratini card leads the Japanese list?

Erika’s Dratini [Glossy CoroCoro] #147 from Promo at $8,000. Japanese is the original printing line, so its top of the list reaches back further than either Chinese or English.

Which Dratini card leads the English list?

Dratini [Reverse Holo] #72 from Legendary Collection at $20,000.

1 of them were reduced as well.

Dratini is printed in more lines than the three listed above.

We do not hold a Dratini slab in Simplified Chinese — the character is outside our current stock. The cards we do hold are listed in the PSA 10 collection.

  • The Two Jynx Cards Worth Owning

The Two Jynx Cards Worth Owning

    Quick answer

CardSpicy (cardspicy.com) ranks the most valuable Jynx cards printed in the Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English lines. Jynx [Reverse Holo] leads at $2,843 as a PSA 10, and the rankings use tracked PSA 10 sales rather than raw prices. Simplified Chinese set codes end in C, the marker of a Chinese-exclusive print run.

Jynx appears on 2 Chinese-exclusive printings, 3 further Simplified Chinese printings, 32 Japanese, 5 Korean and 46 English numbered Pokémon cards, and this page covers every language the character was printed in — Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English lines.

Jynx carries 2 numbered Chinese-exclusive printings, and an English line wide enough that the top of it is decided by vintage printings rather than modern ones. The head of the list is Jynx EX #183 (151C) at $43.

    2. Jynx EX — 151C #124 — $24

Jynx EX — 151 Collect, Simplified Chinese Pokemon card
    Jynx EX · 151 Collect

    Raw $2.62 · PSA 10 $24.50

At number two, close enough to the top that the pair reads as one tier. It sits 1.74× below the card above. Raw to graded is 9.4× — $2.62 ungraded against $24.50. Collect 151 is the Simplified Chinese set built around the original 151, and the art rares at the head of each group were commissioned as a single body of work. At 36.5% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

    1. Jynx EX — 151C #183 — $43

Jynx EX — 151 Collect, Simplified Chinese Pokemon card
    Jynx EX · 151 Collect

    Raw $2.62 · grade 9 $14.61 · PSA 10 $42.60

Heading the list, by a margin wide enough to matter more than any other single number on the page. It alone holds 63.5% of the value in the ten below it. A raw copy is a $2.62 card and the tracked graded tier is $42.60, a 16× separation. 151C supplies two cards to the ten above, and this is the lower of the pair. At 63.5% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

This line only yields 2 priced printings for Jynx.

    The Japanese list

Japanese is the original language of the TCG, so this list reaches further back than either of the other two — into the 1996 promos, the Gold Star era and the modern art rares alike.

    Raw $17.40 · grade 9 $48.79 · PSA 10 $663.45

Sitting at number 6 of the 32 priced printings in this line. A raw copy is a $17.40 card and the tracked graded tier is $663.45, a 38× separation. † No PSA 10 copy of this card has been sold in the last six months, so PriceCharting’s top-grade figure is a model output rather than a traded price. The ranking caps it at the ceiling this card’s own lower grades support; the tracked figure is printed in the line above.

    5. Jynx [Series II] — Vending #124 — $854

Jynx [Series II], Japanese Pokemon card
    Jynx [Series II] · Vending

    Raw $37.76 · grade 9 $77.09 · PSA 10 $853.76

Sitting at number 5 of the 32 priced printings in this line. A raw copy is a $37.76 card and the tracked graded tier is $853.76, a 23× separation. Jynx, Japanese Pokemon card
    Jynx · Expansion Pack

    Raw $15.25 · grade 9 $148.50 · PSA 10 $900

Sitting at number 4 of the 32 priced printings in this line. A raw copy is a $15.25 card and the tracked graded tier is $900, a 59× separation. Expansion Pack is the original 1996 Japanese set, and its no-rarity printings sit at the very front of the Japanese collecting line.

    Jynx [CoroCoro] · Promo

    Raw $19.63 · grade 9 $999.99 · PSA 10 $1,094

Third of the 32 priced printings in this line, roughly the point at which the list stops falling steeply. A raw copy is a $19.63 card and the tracked graded tier is $1,094, a 56× separation. Japanese promo numbering runs across more than two decades of distributions — CoroCoro mail-ins, tournament prizes, movie giveaways and Pokémon Center releases all share the same prefix.

    2. Jynx [No Rarity] — Expansion Pack #124 — $1,500

Jynx [No Rarity], Japanese Pokemon card
Jynx [No Rarity] · Expansion Pack

    Raw $58.34 · grade 9 $304.20 · PSA 10 $1,500

At number two, close enough to the top that the pair reads as one tier. A raw copy is a $58.34 card and the tracked graded tier is $1,500, a 26× separation. Expansion Pack supplies two cards to the ten above, and this is the lower of the pair.

The highest-priced card on the list, and the one that decides the shape of everything under it. Raw to graded is 11.2× — $136.56 ungraded against $1,525. Promo supplies two cards to the ten above, and this is the lower of the pair.

    Ranks 11 and beyond

These carry a tracked value but sit outside the ten above. They are listed rather than written up, because at this level the numbers are close enough that a paragraph each would repeat itself.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the most valuable Jynx card in Simplified Chinese?

Among the Chinese-exclusive numbered sets, Jynx EX #183 carries the highest tracked value at $43. Promos and other non-C numbered printings sit outside that comparison.

How many Jynx cards exist in the Chinese-exclusive sets?

2 of the numbered Chinese-exclusive printings for this character carry a tracked market value in our catalogue.

Which Jynx card leads the Japanese list?

Jynx [Natta Wake Vol. 3] #124 from Promo at $1,525. Japanese is the original printing line, so its top of the list reaches back further than either Chinese or English.

Which Jynx card leads the English list?

Jynx [Reverse Holo] #18 from Aquapolis at $2,843.

1 of them were reduced as well.

Jynx is printed in more lines than the three listed above.

We do not hold a Jynx slab in Simplified Chinese — the character is outside our current stock. The cards we do hold are listed in the PSA 10 collection.

  • The Two Squirtle Cards Worth Owning

The Two Squirtle Cards Worth Owning

    Quick answer

CardSpicy (cardspicy.com) ranks the most valuable Squirtle cards printed in the Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English lines. Squirtle [Reverse Holo] leads at $15,275 as a PSA 10, and the rankings use tracked PSA 10 sales rather than raw prices. Simplified Chinese set codes end in C, the marker of a Chinese-exclusive print run.

Squirtle appears on 2 Chinese-exclusive printings, 3 further Simplified Chinese printings, 29 Japanese, 2 Korean and 53 English numbered Pokémon cards, and this page covers every language the character was printed in — Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English lines.

Squirtle carries 2 numbered Chinese-exclusive printings, and an English line wide enough that the top of it is decided by vintage printings rather than modern ones. The head of the list is Squirtle #7 (151C) at $45. Everything below is arranged by what each card actually trades for, so the page reads the same way whoever is reading it — the Chinese lines come first, and only the numbers change.

    How this list was built

Four rules, applied in this order.

    2. Squirtle [Reverse] — 151C #7 — $41

Squirtle [Reverse] — 151 Collect, Simplified Chinese Pokemon card
    Squirtle [Reverse] · 151 Collect

    Raw $2.66 · grade 9 $14.08 · PSA 10 $41.17

Second of the 2 priced printings in this line, and the last card before the list begins to separate. A raw copy is a $2.66 card and the tracked graded tier is $41.17, a 15× separation. Collect 151 is the Simplified Chinese set built around the original 151, and the art rares at the head of each group were commissioned as a single body of work. At 47.9% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

    1. Squirtle — 151C #7 — $45

Squirtle — 151 Collect, Simplified Chinese Pokemon card
    Squirtle · 151 Collect

    Raw $2.82 · grade 9 $15.38 · PSA 10 $44.77

The highest-priced card on the list, and the one that decides the shape of everything under it. It alone holds 52.1% of the value in the ten below it. A raw copy is a $2.82 card and the tracked graded tier is $44.77, a 16× separation. 151C supplies two cards to the ten above, and this is the lower of the pair. At 52.1% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

This line only yields 2 priced printings for Squirtle. Another 4 numbered printings in this line carry no graded sold record yet and are therefore not ranked.

    Other Simplified Chinese printings

These are the other Simplified Chinese printings: promos, the reprint sets and the gift-box runs. They sit outside the ranked Chinese-exclusive list because their numbering does not identify a Chinese-only print.

    • Squirtle [FamilyMart Stamped] — Promo #233/SV-P — $136
    • Squirtle — Promo #99/SV-P — $102
    • Squirtle — Promo #3/30TH-P — $49

A further 2 Simplified Chinese printings of Squirtle sit in our catalogue without a tracked value. No graded sale of any of them has been recorded.

    The Japanese list

Japanese is the original language of the TCG, so this list reaches further back than either of the other two — into the 1996 promos, the Gold Star era and the modern art rares alike.

    Raw $55.23 · grade 9 $898.90 · PSA 10 $2,166

At fifth place among the 29 priced printings here. A raw copy is a $55.23 card and the tracked graded tier is $2,166, a 39× separation. Expansion Pack is the original 1996 Japanese set, and its no-rarity printings sit at the very front of the Japanese collecting line.

    Raw $7.50 · grade 9 $182.49 · PSA 10 $5,200

Sitting at number 4 of the 29 priced printings in this line. A raw copy is a $7.50 card and the tracked graded tier is $5,200, a 693× separation. † No PSA 10 copy of this card has been sold in the last six months, so PriceCharting’s top-grade figure is a model output rather than a traded price. The ranking caps it at the ceiling this card’s own lower grades support; the tracked figure is printed in the line above.

    3. Squirtle — Promo #9/DPt-P — $2,500

    Squirtle, Japanese Pokemon card
    Squirtle · Promo

    Raw $172.05 · grade 9 $570.44 · PSA 10 $2,500

Third of the 29 priced printings in this line, roughly the point at which the list stops falling steeply. A raw copy is a $172.05 card and the tracked graded tier is $2,500, a 15× separation. Japanese promo numbering runs across more than two decades of distributions — CoroCoro mail-ins, tournament prizes, movie giveaways and Pokémon Center releases all share the same prefix.

    2. Squirtle [Series 1] — Vending #7 — $2,950

Squirtle [Series 1], Japanese Pokemon card
    Squirtle [Series 1] · Vending

    Raw $63 · grade 9 $400 · PSA 10 $2,950

The Vending series was distributed through vending-machine sheets rather than booster packs, which is why its printings are usually found in played condition.

    1. Bulbasaur, Pikachu, Squirtle [Prism] — Meiji Promo #38 — $3,643

Bulbasaur, Pikachu, Squirtle [Prism], Japanese Pokemon card
Bulbasaur, Pikachu, Squirtle [Prism] · Meiji Promo

Heading the list, by a margin wide enough to matter more than any other single number on the page. A raw copy is a $75 card and the tracked graded tier is $3,643, a 49× separation. Meiji Promo supplies two cards to the ten above, and this is the lower of the pair.

    Ranks 11 and beyond

These carry a tracked value but sit outside the ten above. They are listed rather than written up, because at this level the numbers are close enough that a paragraph each would repeat itself.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the most valuable Squirtle card in Simplified Chinese?

Among the Chinese-exclusive numbered sets, Squirtle #7 carries the highest tracked value at $45. Promos and other non-C numbered printings sit outside that comparison.

How many Squirtle cards exist in the Chinese-exclusive sets?

2 of the numbered Chinese-exclusive printings for this character carry a tracked market value in our catalogue.

Which Squirtle card leads the Japanese list?

Bulbasaur, Pikachu, Squirtle [Prism] #38 from Meiji Promo at $3,643. Japanese is the original printing line, so its top of the list reaches back further than either Chinese or English.

Which Squirtle card leads the English list?

Squirtle [Reverse Holo] #95 from Legendary Collection at $15,275.

3 of them were reduced as well.

Squirtle is printed in more lines than the four listed above.

We do not hold a Squirtle slab in Simplified Chinese — the character is outside our current stock. The cards we do hold are listed in the PSA 10 collection.

CardSpicy (cardspicy.com) ranks the most valuable Electrode cards printed in the Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English lines. Electrode [Reverse Holo] leads at $3,800 as a PSA 10, and the rankings use tracked PSA 10 sales rather than raw prices. Simplified Chinese set codes end in C, the marker of a Chinese-exclusive print run.

Electrode appears on 2 Chinese-exclusive printings, 3 further Simplified Chinese printings, 48 Japanese, 9 Korean and 76 English numbered Pokémon cards, and this page covers every language the character was printed in — Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English lines.

Electrode carries 2 numbered Chinese-exclusive printings, and an English line wide enough that the top of it is decided by vintage printings rather than modern ones. The head of the list is Electrode #165 (151C) at $44.

    2. Electrode — 151C #101 — $42

Electrode — 151 Collect, Simplified Chinese Pokemon card
    Electrode · 151 Collect

    Raw $2.96 · grade 9 $14.54 · PSA 10 $42.45

At number two, close enough to the top that the pair reads as one tier. A raw copy is a $2.96 card and the tracked graded tier is $42.45, a 14× separation. Collect 151 is the Simplified Chinese set built around the original 151, and the art rares at the head of each group were commissioned as a single body of work. At 48.9% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

    1. Electrode — 151C #165 — $44

Electrode — 151 Collect, Simplified Chinese Pokemon card
    Electrode · 151 Collect

    Raw $3.53 · grade 9 $4.25 · PSA 10 $44.43

Heading the list, by a margin wide enough to matter more than any other single number on the page. It alone holds 51.1% of the value in the ten below it. A raw copy is a $3.53 card and the tracked graded tier is $44.43, a 13× separation. 151C supplies two cards to the ten above, and this is the lower of the pair. At 51.1% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

This line only yields 2 priced printings for Electrode. Another 5 numbered printings in this line carry no graded sold record yet and are therefore not ranked.

    The Japanese list

Japanese is the original language of the TCG, so this list reaches further back than either of the other two — into the 1996 promos, the Gold Star era and the modern art rares alike.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the most valuable Electrode card in Simplified Chinese?

Among the Chinese-exclusive numbered sets, Electrode #165 carries the highest tracked value at $44. Promos and other non-C numbered printings sit outside that comparison.

How many Electrode cards exist in the Chinese-exclusive sets?

2 of the numbered Chinese-exclusive printings for this character carry a tracked market value in our catalogue.

Which Electrode card leads the Japanese list?

Electrode [No Rarity] #101 from Expansion Pack at $3,017. Japanese is the original printing line, so its top of the list reaches back further than either Chinese or English.

Which Electrode card leads the English list?

Electrode [Reverse Holo] #32 from Legend Maker at $3,800.

None of them needed reducing on this page.

Electrode is printed in more lines than the three listed above.

We do not hold an Electrode slab in Simplified Chinese — the character is outside our current stock. The cards we do hold are listed in the PSA 10 collection.

CardSpicy (cardspicy.com) ranks the most valuable Arcanine cards printed in the Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English lines. Blaine’s Arcanine [1st Edition] leads at $10,000 as a PSA 10, and the rankings use tracked PSA 10 sales rather than raw prices. Simplified Chinese set codes end in C, the marker of a Chinese-exclusive print run.

Arcanine appears on 2 Chinese-exclusive printings, 2 further Simplified Chinese printings, 48 Japanese, 6 Korean and 61 English numbered Pokémon cards, and this page covers every language the character was printed in — Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English lines.

Arcanine carries 2 numbered Chinese-exclusive printings, and an English line wide enough that the top of it is decided by vintage printings rather than modern ones. The head of the list is Arcanine #59 (151C) at $38.

    2. Hisuian Arcanine — csv8C #98 — $34

Hisuian Arcanine, Simplified Chinese Pokemon card
    Hisuian Arcanine · CSV8C

    Raw $1 · grade 9 $11.17 · PSA 10 $34.03

Second of the 2 printings in this line that carry a tracked value, one step under the top. A raw copy is a $1 card and the tracked graded tier is $34.03, a 34× separation. Brilliant Fantasy is a modern-length Chinese set with the usual art-rare tail. At 47.0% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

    1. Arcanine — 151C #59 — $38

Arcanine — 151 Collect, Simplified Chinese Pokemon card
    Arcanine · 151 Collect

    Raw $2 · grade 9 $13.07 · PSA 10 $38.40

Heading the list, by a margin wide enough to matter more than any other single number on the page. It alone holds 53.0% of the value in the ten below it. A raw copy is a $2 card and the tracked graded tier is $38.40, a 19× separation. Collect 151 is the Simplified Chinese set built around the original 151, and the art rares at the head of each group were commissioned as a single body of work. At 53.0% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

This line only yields 2 priced printings for Arcanine. Another 2 numbered printings in this line carry no graded sold record yet and are therefore not ranked.

    Other Simplified Chinese printings

These are the other Simplified Chinese printings: promos, the reprint sets and the gift-box runs. They sit outside the ranked Chinese-exclusive list because their numbering does not identify a Chinese-only print.

    • Arcanine ex — CSV3C #155 — $598
    • Arcanine EX — CSV3C #141 — $4

A further 2 Simplified Chinese printings of Arcanine sit in our catalogue without a tracked value. No graded sale of any of them has been recorded.

    The Japanese list

Japanese is the original language of the TCG, so this list reaches further back than either of the other two — into the 1996 promos, the Gold Star era and the modern art rares alike.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the most valuable Arcanine card in Simplified Chinese?

Among the Chinese-exclusive numbered sets, Arcanine #59 carries the highest tracked value at $38. Promos and other non-C numbered printings sit outside that comparison.

How many Arcanine cards exist in the Chinese-exclusive sets?

2 of the numbered Chinese-exclusive printings for this character carry a tracked market value in our catalogue.

Which Arcanine card leads the Japanese list?

Arcanine #17 from The Town on No Map at $3,033. Japanese is the original printing line, so its top of the list reaches back further than either Chinese or English.

Which Arcanine card leads the English list?

Blaine’s Arcanine [1st Edition] #1 from Gym Challenge at $10,000.

None of them needed reducing on this page.

Arcanine is printed in more lines than the four listed above.

Our own stock includes an Arcanine slab that sits outside this list — the Arcanine PSA 10 (csv3C 155/130), from a set the ranking above does not cover. Our Simplified Chinese slabs are listed in the PSA 10 collection.

  • The Two Doduo Cards Worth Owning

The Two Doduo Cards Worth Owning

    Quick answer

CardSpicy (cardspicy.com) ranks the most valuable Doduo cards printed in the Simplified Chinese, Japanese and English lines. Imakuni?’s Doduo leads at $1,182 as a PSA 10, and the rankings use tracked PSA 10 sales rather than raw prices. Simplified Chinese set codes end in C, the marker of a Chinese-exclusive print run.

Doduo appears on 2 Chinese-exclusive printings, 3 further Simplified Chinese printings, 18 Japanese and 36 English numbered Pokémon cards, and this page covers every language the character was printed in — Simplified Chinese, Japanese and English lines.

Doduo carries 2 numbered Chinese-exclusive printings. The head of the list is Doduo #162 (151C) at $47.

    2. Doduo — 151C #84 — $34

Doduo — 151 Collect, Simplified Chinese Pokemon card
    Doduo · 151 Collect

    Raw $1 · grade 9 $11.53 · PSA 10 $34.21

Second of the 2 priced printings in this line, and the last card before the list begins to separate. A raw copy is a $1 card and the tracked graded tier is $34.21, a 34× separation. Collect 151 is the Simplified Chinese set built around the original 151, and the art rares at the head of each group were commissioned as a single body of work. At 42.2% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

    1. Doduo — 151C #162 — $47

Doduo — 151 Collect, Simplified Chinese Pokemon card
    Doduo · 151 Collect

    Raw $3.99 · grade 9 $16.12 · PSA 10 $46.77

The highest-priced card on the list, and the one that decides the shape of everything under it. It alone holds 57.8% of the value in the ten below it. Raw to graded is 11.7× — $3.99 ungraded against $46.77. 151C supplies two cards to the ten above, and this is the lower of the pair. At 57.8% of the page’s total, this is one of the cards a Chinese-line collection is built around rather than filled out with.

This line only yields 2 priced printings for Doduo. Another 2 numbered printings in this line carry no graded sold record yet and are therefore not ranked.

    The Japanese list

Japanese is the original language of the TCG, so this list reaches further back than either of the other two — into the 1996 promos, the Gold Star era and the modern art rares alike.

    Raw $32 · grade 9 $100 · PSA 10 $218.02

Number 5 of the 18 cards in this line that carry a tracked value. Raw to graded is 6.8× — $32 ungraded against $218.02. The Vending series was distributed through vending-machine sheets rather than booster packs, which is why its printings are usually found in played condition.

    2. Doduo [No Rarity] — Expansion Pack #84 — $939

Doduo [No Rarity] · Expansion Pack

    Raw $19.55 · grade 9 $185.19 · PSA 10 $939.06

At number two, close enough to the top that the pair reads as one tier. A raw copy is a $19.55 card and the tracked graded tier is $939.06, a 48× separation. Expansion Pack supplies two cards to the ten above, and this is the lower of the pair.

    1. Imakuni?’s Doduo — Challenge from the Darkness #84 — $1,182

    Imakuni?'s Doduo, Japanese Pokemon card

A raw copy is a $57.27 card and the tracked graded tier is $1,182, a 21× separation. Challenge from the Darkness supplies two cards to the ten above, and this is the lower of the pair.

    Ranks 11 and beyond

These carry a tracked value but sit outside the ten above. They are listed rather than written up, because at this level the numbers are close enough that a paragraph each would repeat itself.

    • Doduo — Master Kit #6 — $57

    • Doduo — Shiny Treasure ex #307 — $23

And 14 further printings below those, which carry no tracked value at all.

    The English list

English is the widest printing line of the six, which is why its top ten is the most expensive and the most contested.

    10. Doduo — Aquapolis #73 — $130

    Doduo, English Pokemon card
    Doduo · Aquapolis

    Raw $5.47 · grade 9 $17.58 · PSA 10 $129.50

Aquapolis supplies two cards to the ten above, and this is the lower of the pair. The raw card is cheap enough that the entire decision here is about the holder, not the card.

    9. Doduo [Shadowless] — Base Set #48 — $133

    Doduo [Shadowless], English Pokemon card
    Doduo [Shadowless] · Base Set

    Raw $2.41 · grade 9 $27.34 · PSA 10 $132.70

The English Base Set is the 1999 Wizards printing that started the international line, and its first-edition and shadowless runs are separate printings of the same 102 cards. The raw card is cheap enough that the entire decision here is about the holder, not the card.

    8. Blaine’s Doduo [1st Edition] — Gym Challenge #61 — $142

    Doduo · Hidden Legends

    Raw $1.25 · grade 9 $12 · PSA 10 $1,000

Number 6 of the 36 cards in this line that carry a tracked value. A raw copy is a $1.25 card and the tracked graded tier is $1,000, a 800× separation. † No PSA 10 copy of this card has been sold in the last six months, so PriceCharting’s top-grade figure is a model output rather than a traded price. The ranking caps it at the ceiling this card’s own lower grades support; the tracked figure is printed in the line above.

    5. Doduo [Reverse Holo] — Hidden Legends #60 — $377

Doduo [Reverse Holo], English Pokemon card
Doduo [Reverse Holo] · Hidden Legends

Doduo [Reverse Holo] · Legendary Collection

    Raw $100.90 · grade 9 $254.97 · PSA 10 $923.25

Heading the list, by a margin wide enough to matter more than any other single number on the page. It alone holds 25.0% of the value in the ten below it. Raw to graded is 9.2× — $100.90 ungraded against $923.25. Legendary Collection is the 2002 reprint set whose reverse-holo parallel is condition-sensitive in a way almost no other set is, which is why gem-mint copies are scarce relative to the print run.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the most valuable Doduo card in Simplified Chinese?

Among the Chinese-exclusive numbered sets, Doduo #162 carries the highest tracked value at $47. Promos and other non-C numbered printings sit outside that comparison.

How many Doduo cards exist in the Chinese-exclusive sets?

2 of the numbered Chinese-exclusive printings for this character carry a tracked market value in our catalogue.

Which Doduo card leads the Japanese list?

Imakuni?’s Doduo #84 from Challenge from the Darkness at $1,182. Japanese is the original printing line, so its top of the list reaches back further than either Chinese or English.

Which Doduo card leads the English list?

Doduo [Reverse Holo] #71 from Legendary Collection at $923.

1 of them were reduced as well.

Doduo is printed in more lines than the three listed above.

We do not hold a Doduo slab in Simplified Chinese — the character is outside our current stock. The cards we do hold are listed in the PSA 10 collection.
