The Five Greavard Cards Worth Owning in Simplified Chinese

Written by

in

Here are the top 5 Greavard cards in Simplified Chinese, ranked by PSA 10 value.

Quick answer

CardSpicy (cardspicy.com) ranks the Greavard cards of the Dragon Ball card games by recorded PSA 10 sale value rather than by asking price, and lists every Greavard printing that has a tracked graded sale.

Greavard has ten cards in the Chinese-only sets and six of them carry a tracked PSA 10 value. All six come from Gem Pack Vol. 3, and one of them breaks the pattern of the group: the Master Ball foil at #1605 has a grade 9 value of $25.00 — the highest in the set by more than six dollars — while its PSA 10 value of $34.98 ranks fifth of the six.

The other five grade 9 records sit between $11.42 and $18.53. On the four cards in the middle of the list the step from grade 9 to PSA 10 is between 2.97 and 3.04 times, so a grade 9 copy is worth roughly a third of a PSA 10 copy. On the Master Ball foil that step is 1.40 times. Of the 1,143 cards in these sets that carry both a PSA 10 value and a grade 9 value, only 37 sit closer together than that.

How this list was built

Three rules, applied in this order.

  • The card has to sit in a Chinese-only set. Every card below carries the set code CBB3C — Gem Pack Vol. 3. The trailing C marks a Simplified Chinese print run, and it is the dependable way to tell a Chinese-only card from a card that merely happens to be printed in Chinese. Reading a Chinese set code from end to end covers the whole system.
  • The card has to have a tracked PSA 10 value. Ten Greavard cards exist in these sets and six have a PSA 10 price on record. The four that do not are listed at the end of this page. A card with no graded record cannot be ranked.
  • The card has to be a Pokémon card. Sealed product, trainer cards and energy are out of scope.

One exclusion applies here as it does to every character ranking we publish. Promo printings of Greavard exist in Chinese and they are not on this list. Promo numbering is shared across the Chinese branches — the same promo number appears in Traditional Chinese product as well — so a promo number on its own cannot establish which branch a card came from. Everything below sits inside a numbered set whose code ends in C, which is unambiguous.

The top 5, ranked

5. Greavard [Masterball] #1605 — Gem Pack Vol. 3 (CBB3C) — $34.98

Raw $1.11 · grade 9 $25.00

The fifth print of the seven-card group, and the outlier. Its grade 9 value of $25.00 is the highest of the six priced cards by $6.47, and its raw price of $1.11 is the second lowest. The step from raw to PSA 10 is 31.5 times, and the step from grade 9 to PSA 10 is 1.40 — where every other card in this list runs close to three. It sits 49 cents above the card ranked sixth and $1.21 below the card ranked fourth.

4. Greavard [Rotary] #1604 — Gem Pack Vol. 3 (CBB3C) — $36.19

Raw $1.39 · grade 9 $11.96

The fourth print of the group. Raw copies are tracked at $1.39 and grade 9 at $11.96, a multiple of 26.0. Its grade 9 record is the second lowest of the six priced cards, and it sits 50 cents below the card ranked third and $1.21 above the card ranked fifth — the three cards at the bottom of this list are separated by $1.70 in total.

3. Greavard [Stars] #1603 — Gem Pack Vol. 3 (CBB3C) — $36.69

Raw $1.49 · grade 9 $12.12

The third print of the group. Raw copies are tracked at $1.49 against $36.69 graded, a multiple of 24.6. Its grade 9 record of $12.12 is the third highest among the five cards that are not the Master Ball foil. It is $3.21 below the card ranked second, and $18.31 below the card at number one.

2. Greavard [Stamped] #1606 — Gem Pack Vol. 3 (CBB3C) — $39.90

Raw $2.21 · grade 9 $13.14

The stamped foil, and the last print of the group before the full art. It is the highest-priced Greavard card that is not a full art, and it carries the second highest grade 9 value among the five non-Master-Ball prints, at $13.14. Raw copies are tracked at $2.21 and the multiple from raw to graded is 18.1. It sits $3.21 above the card ranked third and $15.10 below the card at number one.

1. Greavard [Full Art] #1607 — Gem Pack Vol. 3 (CBB3C) — $55.00

Raw $5.99 · grade 9 $18.53

The most valuable Greavard card in Simplified Chinese, the only one above $40, and the only card in the group with a raw price above three dollars. It is $15.10 clear of the card below it. Its grade 9 record of $18.53 is the second highest in the group, behind only the Master Ball foil, and the step from raw to PSA 10 is 9.2 times — the narrowest on this list. It holds 23.2 percent of the character against an even share of 16.7 percent.

Ranked bar chart of the five most valuable Greavard cards in the Chinese-only Pokemon sets, from Greavard Full Art 1607 at 55 dollars down to Greavard Masterball 1605 at 35 dollars
The five, by PSA 10 value. The Master Ball foil at #1605 carries the highest grade 9 value in the group, at $25.00, but ranks fifth on PSA 10.

What the ranking shows

Greavard is one artwork and seven finishes, six of which carry a value.

Band Cards Combined PSA 10 value Share of total
$55 and above — ranked 1 1 $55.00 23.2%
$36 to $40 — ranked 2 to 4 3 $112.78 47.5%
$34 to $36 — ranked 5 to 6 2 $69.47 29.3%
Every priced Greavard card 6 $237.25 100%

Two points run across the whole group.

One card’s grade 9 value sits far above the rest, and it is not the card at the top. Five of the six priced Greavard cards carry a grade 9 value between $11.42 and $18.53. The sixth, the Master Ball foil at #1605, is recorded at $25.00 — $6.47 above the next highest, and the only one of the six whose grade 9 value comes within 40 percent of its PSA 10 value. The same card ranks fifth on PSA 10. The record does not explain itself, and it is worth reading it carefully: a grade 9 figure is built from however many sales were recorded, and on a print with a thinner sales history that sample is smaller. Our grading guide covers why a single result can land either side of a recorded average.

A high grade 9 value and a high PSA 10 value are two different things here. Rank this group by grade 9 and the Master Ball foil leads it; rank it by PSA 10 and the same card is fifth. Rank it by raw price and the order is the full art, the stamped foil, the stars foil, the rotary foil, the Master Ball foil, the Poké Ball foil — which is the PSA 10 order, card for card. So on this group the raw market and the graded market agree at every position while the middle grade does not, and the single card that disagrees is the one that decides how the rest of the table reads. Inside a Gem Pack group every print is issued at the same rarity, so there is no scarcity difference to explain the gap; what a finish sells for is set by the buyers who want that finish. The volume-by-volume guide sets out how those groups are built.

The counts are cards, not artworks. Gem Pack Vol. 3 gives Greavard one group running #1601 to #1607 — a plain print, a Poké Ball foil, a stars foil, a rotary foil, a Master Ball foil, a stamped foil and a full art. Six of the seven carry a graded price; the lowest-numbered print, #1601, is the one that does not. The other three Greavard cards in these sets are the Dark Crystal Blaze printings of #57 — a plain print, a Poké Ball foil and a Master Ball foil — and none of the three has a tracked value.

Greavard is a ninth-generation Paldea Pokémon, so — unlike Charizard and Pikachu — he has no Collect 151 entry, since that set covers only the original 151 characters. One Gem Pack group and three unpriced cards from a second volume are the whole of his Chinese-only catalogue.

If you want one card

  • One card, no budget limit: the full art from Gem Pack Vol. 3 at #1607, at $55.00. It is the highest tracked Greavard card in the language, the only one above $40, and the only card in the group with a raw price above three dollars.
  • The card the grade 9 market rates highest: the Master Ball foil from Gem Pack Vol. 3 at #1605, at $34.98. Its grade 9 value of $25.00 is the highest in the group by $6.47 — and the same card ranks fifth on PSA 10.
  • The lowest entry point: the Poké Ball foil from Gem Pack Vol. 3 at #1602, at $34.49. It is the least expensive Greavard card with a tracked value, and it sits $20.51 below the top of the list.

Frequently asked questions

Which Greavard card is the most valuable in Simplified Chinese?

The full art from Gem Pack Vol. 3 — #1607 — carries the highest tracked PSA 10 value of any Greavard card in the Chinese-only numbered sets, at $55.00. It is $15.10 above the second card, and the only Greavard card above $40. Chinese promo printings sit outside that comparison, because their numbering is shared between the Chinese branches.

How many Greavard cards are there in the Chinese-only sets?

Ten, across two products: seven from Gem Pack Vol. 3 and three from Dark Crystal Blaze. Six of the ten carry a tracked PSA 10 value, and all six are Vol. 3 prints. The four that do not are the lowest-numbered print of the Vol. 3 group at #1601, and the three Dark Crystal Blaze printings of #57.

Why does #1605 rank so high on grade 9 but only fifth on PSA 10?

The record does not explain itself, and it is worth reading carefully. #1605 is a Master Ball foil, one of the treatments a Gem Pack group issues alongside the plain print and the stamped foil. Its grade 9 value is $25.00, the highest in the group by $6.47, while its PSA 10 value of $34.98 ranks fifth of six. A grade 9 figure is built from however many sales were recorded, and on a print with a thinner sales history that sample is smaller — a reason to read any single graded value as an observation rather than a settled price.

Is a PSA 10 worth the premium over a raw card?

Across this group the step widens as the raw price falls. The full art at #1607 is tracked at $5.99 raw against $55.00 graded, a multiple of 9.2 — the smallest step in the list, because a raw copy already carries a real price. The Poké Ball foil at #1602 is tracked at $1.00 raw against $34.49 graded, a multiple of 34.5. The graded values differ by $20.51; the raw values differ by under six dollars. A printed figure is an observation, not a forecast, and grading outcomes are never certain.

How does Greavard compare with the other characters ranked here?

His $237.25 total is one of the smallest, and the group behind it is a single run of seven numbers from one volume, six of them priced. What makes him worth a page is the one card that refuses to line up: the highest grade 9 value in the group belongs to the fifth most valuable card on PSA 10. For a wider view of the market rather than one character, the ten most popular Chinese-exclusive cards ranks across Pokémon, and the price ladder sorts the same catalogue into bands.

Other character rankings

Each character ranked here has its own page: Pikachu, Charizard, Gengar, Psyduck, Mew, Snorlax, Venusaur, Blastoise, Zapdos, Alakazam and Chansey, plus the nine forms of the Eevee family — Eevee, Umbreon, Sylveon, Espeon, Leafeon, Glaceon, Jolteon, Vaporeon and Flareon. Smaller catalogues in the same price band as this one include Floragato, Clefable, Magneton, Crocalor and Quaxwell.
