Set Checklists, Set by Set

Quick answer

Every other page on this site is organised by Pokemon. This one is organised by set. The table below lists each Simplified Chinese set we hold, the code it is printed under, the date it was released, and how many cards from that set we currently track. Where a set carries enough tracked cards to be worth its own page, the name links through to its checklist — there are 13 of those so far.

Counts in the table are cards we track, not the printed size of the set. We add to them as we handle more product, so a set with a small count here may simply be one we have not worked through yet.

The eighteen main sets carry the numbered codes and most of the tracked cards. A main set is printed in parts, which is why its code runs to a sub-letter — CSM2a, CSM2b and CSM2c are one set, not three, so this table counts them together. The four Collect 151 editions share a single code, 151C, and are likewise one row. Gem Pack is the other line worth knowing: an all-foil mini set organised by Pokemon, with its own numbering that restarts inside each volume.

Set pages

A set gets its own checklist once we track enough of it to be useful. These are the ones that clear that line:

How to use a set page

A set checklist answers a different question from a character page. A character page asks what a single Pokemon has printed across every set; a set checklist asks what one set contains. If you are completing a set, or dating a card to a release, you want the set page. If you are following one Pokemon, you want the per-character table instead.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a set checklist and a character page?

A set checklist lists what one set contains, organised by card number. A character page lists every printing of one Pokemon across all sets. They are two ways of cutting the same catalogue, and both are useful depending on whether you collect by set or by character.

Why do the Collect 151 editions share one code?

All four editions print under 151C. The code identifies the family, not the edition, so a card is dated by the edition it came from rather than by its code alone. That is why the checklist treats the four as one set with four print runs.

Why do some sets have a page and others only a row?

A set gets its own page once we track enough of it for a checklist to say something. The rest stay as rows in the table above until we have worked through enough of them, and the counts there show how far along each one is.

Are these lists the complete printed sets?

They are the cards we track, which means every card we have handled or priced in that set. A set may print more cards than appear here, and we add to the list as we work through more of it. Nothing is invented to fill a gap.

Why do Gem Pack cards not have one number each?

Gem Pack is organised by Pokemon rather than by a single numbered checklist. Each Pokemon has its own group and a ladder of treatments inside that group, so the same fraction after the slash can mean different things in different volumes.
